I just had a similar experience 2 days ago… Driving home from work taking an S curve in the road, I heard/felt a loud pop in the rear when the weight of the truck shifted. When I turned back the other way, it popped again. Almost felt like something hit the underside of the truck but I know I...
Not the greatest pics but gives you an idea. I realize the rats nest of wires looks terrible but I wasn’t going to spend the time and effort to cut everything exactly to length and redo connections lol I have a GMRS mobile radio in my truck so that’s what most of that wire is. I can’t see it...
Much easier to install a leveling kit than drop the rear. Also allows you to fit bigger tires if you ever want to do that in the future.
Some guys swear against spacers and will tell you horror stories about how “bad” they are for your truck. I put leveling spacers on the wife’s truck and I’ve...
I didn’t take pictures but I can try later when I get home. I installed the switches for my lights next to the existing controller for the stock lights. I basically followed that wiring harness. The only panel I needed to open was the cover for the fuse box. Poking a hole through the plug in the...
It’s not really that hard at all. When I put lights on my truck, I used the existing hole in the firewall to run the wires through and up to the switches in the dash. The hardest part, for me anyway, was deciding where I wanted the switches located.
Taking the dash apart isn’t that difficult...
I won 5 bucks lol he was saying the suspension components are completely different and they used a different chassis for the Fx4 model. Negative ghost rider… He may have been thinking of the Ranger Raptor? Trying to give him benefit of doubt lol
The only difference in the suspension is the...
Was going back and forth with a buddy of mine the other day. Figured I’d post here to get some input so I can put this to rest and win $5… What is the difference between Ford’s 4x4 and Fx4 suspension? Not Ranger specific, just in general.
It’s worth noting that when I upsized her tires to 32s, I also went with 255 instead of 265. Slightly skinnier. If I stayed with 265 it wouldn’t have worked. Also depends if you’re running stock wheels or plan on getting offset wheels.
Depends if you want to remove or replace crash bars with high clearance ones. I had the same tire size and recently upgraded to 33s. Had to pull out the crash bars.
My wife’s Ranger has a 2.5” leveling kit and I was BARELY able to fit 32s. She never drives offroad so I don’t really worry about...
They’re just covers for the bolts that hold the tow loops. Leaving them off won’t hurt anything. If you add a grille guard or bull bar, you can’t reinstall them anyway. I’ve had mine off since I added a grille guard a couple years ago.
The biggest factor is whether you’re running offset wheels or stock. On stock wheels, most likely no. If you get aftermarket offset wheels, maybe but you need to be careful not to go too wide. 315 is pushing it. I’ve only ever seen those size tires with a 6” lift.
Verify you got the correct filter and that the oil level is correct. Could also be air bubbles in the oil or the it hasn’t had a chance to work through the engine yet. Let it run a few minutes and see if it stops. I had this happen on my old f150 and after letting run for a while, it stopped.
Never hurts to keep things cleaned and maintained. If you’re already at that many miles and it’s never been done, I’d probably go ahead and do it just to prevent any issues down the line. I’ve heard/read that every 60k miles you should be cleaning injectors. I’d buy some cleaner to put in your...
I did spacers and control arms before I went for the full suspension lift. I honestly didn’t notice much difference. Slightly more stiff than stock but not enough to be a make or break deal for me.
Depends. I’ve found that white lights aren’t your friend on dusty roads. I have white ditch lights and a light bar on my truck. They’re nice but if I’m driving behind someone on a trail, I can’t see shit. I’m gonna be swapping mine out to amber and putting the whites on the wife’s truck since...
Exactly… I’m not concerned with MPG. I’m more worried about whether or not I need to have my transmission regeared and beef up the suspension a bit. With my job, I basically live out of my truck for a week every month. I probably carry a bit more in the bed than most people. Plus the added...
Definitely curious which one’s lighter and by how much. Let us know when you find out! I’m going to be swapping mine out soon and weight is a bigger concern for me. I’ve already added enough weight to take away 1” from my 3.5” lift lol
Just got it back from the mechanic, decided to have a pro check it out and hopefully find something I was missing. Of course, they couldn’t find anything wrong.
They completely tore the truck apart and literally checked everything. Suspension, steering rack, differential, hubs, CV axles...
