Hi Ed. I'm in BC and tow a flat 5x8 trailer with my quad in winter for ice fishing. Total load is about 600kgs and I use normal summer trailer tires. This involves normal highway towing at 120kph, then high mountain (2000m) towing at 100kph, then FSR snow packed gravel roads at 35kph, and...
It's lost most of it's value at 100k. Economic logic dictates you keep driving it until it has a major costly malfunction or becomes unreliable. If economic logic doesn't motivate you, the the 2025 Ranger has won the 2025 Truck of The Year, which includes full sized trucks.
Canada doesn't even sell 2WD Rangers. Never even knew that they existed until I came here. What's the purpose of buying a truck if you don't need 4x4?
Back to the question. Every month as a minimum. Machinery likes to be used to remain viable.
Had to replace my back rotors at 32,000 kilometres; chunks were coming out and rusting causing shuttering. I do live on a mountain and do about 2500' in elevation change daily.
The Amazon wrench works well; if the filter is not tight. If the filter is tight, it simply won't grip it tight enough to spin it off. I had to put a hose clamp around the wrench/filter to get enough grip to spin off a tough filter. Just hand tighten the new filter; it won't leak and it will...
It is designed for 20a and protected by a 20 a fuse. I wouldn't worry about that as all wires are oversized by design. I have no problems with my 20a DC to DC charger. But in my original post; I stated that I use a DC marine connector, (rated at 40a, waterproof and locking), instead of a...
I've read that on this forum, but in practise, don't believe it to be accurate at higher loads. In my case (factory set), where I am running a 20a 12VDC to 12VDC charger for my fishing battery, it shuts off when the key shuts off, most likely due to the BMS. In fact, if the truck battery...
It's rated at 20 amps., so 240w. Only for when the motor is on, and a few minutes afterward as the battery minder sees fit. I installed it in the bed of my truck, but with a marine 12VDC plug rather than a cigarette lighter style. I run a 20a 12VDC to 12VDC charger on it to charge my fishing...
I considered it. It's a little tight on the frame rail to do it correctly; solder and cover with heat shrink to waterproof it, and it's right behind the wheel so it's going to get abused with gravel and water. As a retired electrician, it's certainly possible, but plugging in a waterproof plug...
Bought a used 2021 XLT last November. This spring I noticed that my roll of TP secured in the door pocket was being chewed. Winter was -34C so I don't think that they could have survived inside. Put down some sticky traps and caught 4 adult mice living in my truck. Not sure how they got in...
The Battery Management System is controlling that, but there are other issues that could cause it besides a bad battery. Short jaunts without sufficient recharge time is one of them. BMS should also shut off the stop/start at this point. Read the manual.
I didn't like the cigarette lighter type of outlet as I've had lots of problems with them in the past. They will self destruct with 20a running through them. As well, they are not water proof. I bought the harness but used a marine style 12V outlet and plug, waterproof and built to last in a...
Most people don't seem to realize that half of Amazon parts are actually offered for sale by legitimate small North American companies seeking an online presence. Not everything there is from China, and Amazon states the manufacturer's origin and who the seller is. As most have suggested...
We live rural and have both; Forester and a Ranger. Enjoy them both but they are very different. Both do well in snow with studded tires, but the Ranger does a little better becasue of a little more clearance. Two issues with the Subie; it doesn't have a lot of storage room and that makes it...
Funny you should mention about drawers. I'm building my Ranger as a fly fishing transportation, and decided to add some drawers. The plan is to add one large drawer for all my gear, and flip my 7' pram over on top of the deck to transport it. As well, I'm building a battery box, connected to...
