Very good video, answered many of the questions I have about what the stock Ranger can and cannot do. Plus it was very helpful to see recommended upgrades that will help for this type of driving, which is what I would like to try doing.
How bad was your ding? I had someone slam a car door into mine and now the lower ridge on the passenger rear door has a dent in it, about 3/4" x 1/3" :-(
Let's face it, Ford knew EXACTLY what they were doing with production, pricing, financing, advertising etc. They built up hype about the new Ranger to get us enthusiasts all worked up, we fell for it and paid through the nose. Remember, Ford isn't our friend, they are a corporation who's sole...
I have one of the earlier builds that falls under the TSB and have been avoiding taking it into the dealer despite the low-speed shudder and rough shifting at times. Yesterday "part B" of the TSB finally happened; rough idle when cold. So I will be taking the truck in to get the TSB performed...
Well, here is what was wrong with mine when I got it:
-Washer fluid empty
-tires overinflated
-bedliner overspray and scratches
-Rear seat back wouldn't latch
-outstanding warranty issue (the parking brake/shifter interlock thing)
-Sync update needed
Most of those items were super easy for me...
Seems like the truck's design would account for the fuel tank. Plus the truck is usually driven solo, so that's even more weight on the left side. I can't imagine someone signing off on a vehicle that's CG isn't actually at center. Uneven tire wear, unbalanced ride characteristics, uneven...
Long story short this truck has made my commute enjoyable and has allowed me to start getting out and having fun more easily than I could before. Perfect utility truck, daily driver, and excuse to go places.
Your dealer is full of it, Costco definitely discounts the new Ranger and you can use that price as a bargaining chip when negotiating.
-Get the Costco price for the exact build you want, even if its not from the dealer you want.
-Use that price as a starting point when negotiating. If they try...
That looks like an awesome trip in the Mojave and is exactly the type of driving I am looking to do. Basically go exploring on backroads and hopefully encounter a challenge or two, but nothing super sketchy. I read one of your earlier posts about products becoming available for the Ranger over...
As it turns out the area I was invited to go to was a purpose built ORV park, not just a logging road with a few blown out sections. I ended up having to swallow my pride and park the Ranger, ride along with someone else. The trails consisted on undulating, tight, twisty terrain with lots of...
Nice work! I tried taking my Ranger to an ORV park but quickly realized there was no way I was making it through there without serious damage, just not enough ground clearance and wrong tires. That being said I did find a local back road to play on and it was a blast! Ranger looks much better...
Hello all, I will be taking my Ranger out for the first time on something besides snow-covered dirt. For the sake of simplicity I'll say I am a beginner, anyone have any tips? I have the SuperCrew FX4, completely stock.
I am now at 1800 miles and combined with 92 OCT gas the vibration seems to have gone away. With warmer weather (and possibly more miles) the transmission shifting has improved as well. I don't entirely trust this newfound smoothness though, so we'll see what happens over more time.
Has anyone figured out if the Ranger comes with transmission and oil coolers?
Not including a hitch and wiring stock on a truck has always baffled me. Even if you don't tow and are more into the "sport" side of things hitches are incredibly useful for mounting racks and other items. Same with...
