SuperCab has a rear seat and what is known as a suicide access door, a rear hinged not quite full access door; SuperCrew has a rear seat and true rear access doors.
If your friend hasn't placed an order, I'd suggest they start looking on dealer lots for something close. S/He might get lucky with exactly what they want.
If already ordered, I'd suggest to wait until at least the end of next week to see what the batch scheduling will indicate.
The tanker warning was true decades ago. I doubt is holds true at high volume stations today. I know Costco where I fill up has a delivery every other day if not every day. That volume wouldn't allow much sediment to accumulate in the tanks. Besides, your better stations replace the pump...
Several members have been told by their dealers (me included) that retail orders will be batch scheduled on 1/21 with the information pushed out to the dealers on 1/24. I'd wait to see what the dealer can tell you on 1/24.
My dealer called me this morning specifically to answer my question to him last week about the keypad delaying production. He said that his order clerk inquired with her contact at Ford. No one is aware of any such delay being caused by the keypad. He checked the order (DORA?) on my vehicle...
I mentioned this a page or two back. I'll be towing a ~2300# boat regularly, with some long road trips. I need to make the destination without having to burn 15 minutes of daybreak for every fuel stop.
They look a lot nicer than what we've seen in pictures of the Ford supplied liners from the factory. They fully cover the area beneath the pedals which the Ford factory appear not to do. I would delete mine from the order but don't want to potentially further delay the build. I may just order...
My dealer told me the same thing when I called him Wednesday about an update on my order - all retail orders will be batch scheduled on 1/21. I know he had two approved ROVP orders that were entered well before mine as they were listed on the same confirmation page he scanned for me. Those two...
Floyd, I've contacted Ford regarding the rear axle codes they list for the Ranger in their RV & Trailer Towing Guide. I haven't seen an update to the Rangers codes (page 40 of the Guide). My understanding is that the standard rear axle is open, not limited slip.
A helpful tip for the DIY crowd. These horizontally mounted filters will lose a lot of oil during removal. I've found that a cheap disposable baby diaper strategically placed beneath the filter works extremely well for containing spills.
This might be Ford trying to salvage what on the surface could well discourage fleet sales. Remove 3 fasteners and "peel back" the cover. That doesn't sound very easy either, trying to remove a horizontally mounted oil filter full of oil off it's mount and back thru an opening that is trying...
I fully understand the convenience of the driver side grab handle, but wouldn't the steering wheel have almost the same usefulness as far as ingress / egress?
I don't believe I've seen this one mentioned - an extra capacity fuel tank. If you're towing a trailer, say a 2500# boat, fuel mileage is going to suffer. Reasonably estimated at 15mpg or worse. At 15mpg, you could drive a reasonable maximum of 225 miles (3 gallon reserve in the tank)...
This - just vary the speed. I broke in my '00 Miata SE doing this five days after purchase, driving up I-95. 15-20 minutes at each speed on cruise control. I'd pass some cars, later they'd pass me. The 4 cyl engine has 226K on it now, not a single problem.
FYI, the Ranger comes standard with trailer sway control, per the specs from the price and build and as mentioned in the Owner's Manual. Sway control does not necessarily need to be integrated with a trailer brake controller. It would seem to be preferable (I'm not an engineer) but may not...
The key they kept mentioning was "at altitude". I would expect a boosted engine to perform dramatically better than an aspirated engine when at altitude which translates to less dense air. Would like to see the same video shot at sea level. I would still expect the Ranger to take the flag but...
