Ya, I really don't think mine was ever latching, until recently. Once it did, oh man was it hard to get unlatched. I will cut the leather around the catch and glue my strap back on.

I agree that the the Start-Stop Eliminator is a great option because you can still use it you really want to. It just changes the default mode to Off. I had mine installed by Ford, in 2019 and it has worked perfectly. Side note, not sure all Ford dealers are willing to install it, but I had...

I tried using lub and it helped a little for short period of time. I still have this issue. I plan to take it to dealership before warranty runs out and make them fix it.
