Replaced the spark plugs and spark plug boots now that I’m nearing 100k miles(84,368 currently). All four loosened easily, though I noticed #3 and #4 were a tad bit rough initially. I lined them up 1-2-3-4 in the photos left to right, as well as their associated boots.
I had a 2013 Subaru WRX Hatchback and a 2016 WRX STI. Both were great cars. The STI was a fantastic drive. Never really fell down the mod rabbit hole with them, other than exhaust and a tube, as I know fragile they can be.
While they are not exactly cars that I would trust buying used as it is...
Mounted the Relentless Fabrications Hybrid bumper. Spent the morning prepping it before painting it with
Rust-oleum Truck Bed Coating. I initially was considering the Raptor 2K Aerosol, but those go for $33 a can on Amazon vs $13 for the Rust-oleum.
Relentless Fabrications hybrid bumper with the Summit hoop arrived. Will paint it this weekend before the install. Was not expecting it to arrive in this massive crate, but it was well protected and strapped down.
A 285/70/17 does fit in the factory location. I was able to fit one with the factory spare wheel, as well as with my current Method wheels. I picked up a Rigd Supply Ultraswing last year that I am possible going to sell. Nothing wrong with the unit, but opening the tailgate the vehicle has to be...
I used Mobil 1 regularly in my Trans Am. When I purchased my WRX I had heard the same thing on the Subaru forums. That’s what lead to me eventually switching to Pennzoil in my WRX. Since then I have used Pennzoil in a WRX, WRX STI, Accord, Corvette, Compass, and my Ranger.
Yes, the esters. I watched a video of Lake Speed Jr. where he compared Pennzoil Conventional, high mileage, and synthetic. The esters were what made the high mileage what it was. Amazing the kind of stuff you can kill time watching on YouTube.
I had looked into the Motorcraft 5w30 synthetic blend, but Walmart sells the 5 quart jug for nearly the same price as the Pennzoil Platinum. That’s what pretty much pushed my decision towards the Pennzoil, plus I used it regularly in my WRX STI.
Well that’s where I’m at now. Other than during my drip where I racked up more than 10k miles, I have been regularly changing my oil with Pennzoil Platinum between 5k-6k mile intervals. I only surpassed that on the trip as I do not trust anyone changing my oil, let alone working on my truck.
I...
Ok, thanks for info. I figured I have enough oil at home to last me till the next oil change which would get me to just outside 90k miles. By then I may switch to Platinum High Mileage.
I agree with you both that 80k is not what most would consider high mileage. As I have never owned a vehicle from new to this kind of mileage, I’ve never really gone off and changed brands of fluids or weight. That’s what got me looking into possibly switching the motorcraft stuff to Valvoline...
Good Morning all,
After returning from my PNW trip, my truck has surpassed the 80k mile mark on the odometer. Just last weekend I changed the oil and filled it with Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 as usual(used Ultra prior to the trip). This got me wondering if I should switch out my fluid to Pennzoil...
