Yeppers. Just used my points to purchase an accessory. Parts sent me to service department. Service wrote a service ticket with part needed being the accessory I want. Paid service the extra cost above what the points covered. Fairly simple.

I'm not experienced in removing that piece. Once you figure that out you could try preping and repaint. That would be my approach

Finally. You're not alone OP. I was taught your same technique. I must have passed it onto my son since I observed him do the same in his jeep two days ago. Operating modern vehicles I no longer use your technique. Bottom line--you are not alone.?
