  1. Truck bed/cap camping/storage build

Documented briefly here in case helpful to others looking into similar projects: My wife and I have a 6' bed (supercab) 2019 ranger that we want to be able to camp out of, and inside of when its brutally windy or wet. We need a lot of storage not just for camping/outdoors equipment, but also...
  2. My new ARE topper installed today.. is this right?

i certainly appreciate your collective advice. update for folks who were interested: the dealer hemmed and hawed and made a lot of excuses and claimed that everything was normal and there was 'no way' ARE was going to consider this out of spec, but i insisted they check and apparently ARE does...
  3. installing wood pane inside tailgate: advice?

youre right. rivnuts would be way nicer but i dont really have a final solution yet so i just used a sheet of 1/4" oak plywood and drilled it to the same pattern as the four top sheet metal screws, with a few dots of silicone at the lower panel to hold it in place. not as sturdy, but works well...
  4. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

Yours looks great. Way prettier than mine. If I were to do this again maybe I’d buy that trim piece to hide the plastic interface trim on the top sides. I’d have to sacrifice the middle though to use the original top seat bolts. Those are the workhorses of my design and I want my heavy boxes to...
  5. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

Once you know how the seats come off only takes five minutes.
  6. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

i put it together this weekend. it’s 1/2” plywood plus a piece of pine at the top. the latter was a pain in the butt with its odd angles. the board is painted matt black and drilled with M6 t-nuts in all the holes. same bolt and thread as my roof rack and topper inside hardware so i can mix and...
  7. South Dakota 2019/2020 Ranger Soft Folding Tonneau Cover for Sale - 6' bed

update- still available but no longer will drop off or ship. too expensive and too busy at work now. if you are in the midwest and you want the tonneau, drop by and its yours for cheap.
  8. South Dakota 2019/2020 Ranger running boards for sale - new

update: tonneau available, but only will consider pick-up starting now. just mailed off the running boards and we greatly underestimated how pricey it would be to ship. the shipping will be prohibitive- you would be better off buying a new one probably!
  9. installing wood pane inside tailgate: advice?

oh, snap. thats an awesome idea. i wonder if i can find some 1/4" bamboo sheet and put some deck sealer on it. i want wood because we will sit on it and metal and plastic get so dang hot. bamboo would be a far prettier possibility than the plywood i have lying around. yes, wood will get beat up...
  10. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

i decided to just perch the board on top of the u-bolts, not make a slot. slot would probably look nicer, but i was happy with this simplistic version and i dont envision seeing that bottom edge much as it is going to have gear there the whole time. my plan for now is secure it with a wedge...
  11. South Dakota 2019/2020 Ranger running boards for sale - new

Howdy. As luck would have it, we just sold the running boards yesterday, so those are off the market. The cover is still available. Includes hardware, but a couple of the fasteners and the foam gasket are a little bit beat up. you may prefer to invest 15 bucks in new fasteners at home depot...
  12. installing wood pane inside tailgate: advice?

Any tips on finding those threads? My search attempts aren’t finding them.
  13. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

carpeting the under seat plastic is a good idea. ill have to think about that. you don’t find it noisy? my wife and i can’t stand the road noise with the seats off. plus most of the time with any air running the vents open and you basically have an open window behind you. since i have had the...
  14. installing wood pane inside tailgate: advice?

**edit. wood “panel” not “pane”.. I would like to install a quarter inch sheet of plywood onto the tailgate to protect the paint and provide a flat working space while camping. Does anybody have some tips? I’m assuming I can take out the screws that hold down the upper inside panel of the...
  15. what caulk would you use to seal the bedrail?

I would like to run a bead of sealant along the underside of the plastic bed rail on the exterior to seal it better, working on getting everything as waterproof as possible inside with a topper on top. we are used to seeing a lot of heavy winds and heavy rain, sometimes at the same time and I...
  16. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

yeah, but you lose a couple inches at least leaving the seats in place, and i want a board i can secure things to. ill be putting t nuts in the back of the new rear wall board and straps and whatnot. it wont be an airtight seal around the vents. i doubt it will seal any more than the seats did.
  17. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

my project is paused bc work has been busy, but i am planning on attaching the top using the original seatback bolts (will make a pine wood piece that fills the gap at the top of the wall, secure that to plywood with decking screws, and use the OEM bolts to secure it). for the bottom my plywood...
  18. Speaker suggestion-are tweeters needed?

we have a 2019 XL and im a little disappointed in the bass. the music is crisp but i just dont feel the bass like i do in my other recent stock vehicles at roughly the same volume, regardless of EQ tweaks or source. i have no interest in adding a sub, but would a drop-in option like this...
  19. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

yeah. but the seat is 3-4” thick compared to my thin panel. didn’t think of the spray foam as a conductor. that would be an absolute disaster if it made it worse. interesting thought.
  20. supercab seat delete: need advice on sound proofing

the mess i can deal with. ill just shave whatever oozes out off with a razor blade. what i worry about is that it would stop me accessing some mystery harness or wire in there i might need one day. digging spray foam out with the tip of a coat hanger over the course of a few days sounds...
