this thread isn’t really so much as to describe a complicated DIY project, So much as to warn about the crappy online options. we bought rubber tray liners from Amazon. The only ones available at the time. However after few hot weeks in the car they turn into noodly distorted weird plastic...
sorry to see that. the sides rubbed the paint off one spot on my bed too- i noticed after we lifted the topper to sit it forward.
can’t say i’m impressed. don’t know if this is an ARE thing or standard for toppers. i guess i expected better tolerances and workmanship.
the ARE dealer did say...
pictures attached. let me know if that’s not what you need.
regarding the possible cut out in the front to deal with a different height of the center rail, I think it looks similar on mine. I do see that whoever sealed your topper appears to have sealed it for you. In mind this was just left...
I guess I’m not really sure what cut to fit means.
I’ll send some photos of the corners, kind of ugly but maybe this is par for the course. I don’t see any areas where there was any obvious aftermarket or install trimming but I wasn’t there for the initial install.
I did move it forward with...
yup. here is the current modular bolt-on version.
three milk crates accessible from right rear door and driver/passenger seats, plus as many ring bolts and bungees as needed. my toolbox sits centered and back and the cooler has straps bolted on and opens to the left rear door.
ain’t pretty but...
if I had known about this back when I bought the truck, I probably would’ve done it. Unfortunately I had no idea..
Currently we have a heavy cable running through the undercarriage from the battery into two cigarette lighters in my bed
The advantage of my system is that it’s always on, and we...
update:
topper off. i removed all three bulbs (middle bulb is brake, side bulbs are the cargo lights). as far as i can tell no alarms and the car didn’t spontaneously burst into flames.
great!
(on ranger 2019 XL needs a torx or hex driver and looks like this with assembly open)
poking around under the truck i found this blind ending harness under the rear left undercarriage.
one photo is closeup. the other a little further back with the spare tire in view for reference.
can anyone tell me what it is?
thanks. the reward was taking it for a proper spin for a long weekend. fully loaded, truck camping for two and it survived some offroad and abandoned logging roads without turning into sawdust.
thanks to everyone for your input in this and other projects along the way
thanks! i just logged on to post my measurements and didnt see until now you are way ahead of me.
ill check this out.
fwiw: if this came up for anyone in the future, my hand-measured (no caliper) metric measurements are:
15.5mm round holes: one each at the top rear of the side walls, two at...
seat:
3 to 5” height gained.
seat back:
3 to 4” depth gained.
minus an inch in my configuration for half inch plywood and half inch insulation.
my road noise seems same as stock.
thanks for the link. my search didnt turn that up.
anyways, from that thread it makes it sound like no one is aware of premade plugs to fit the square hole nor the small oval holes. the large oval holes they mention the dealer supplies plugs for is not an issue for me- we have all those plugs...
see photos:
my bed has three holes i want to plug with rubber firewall plugs. one is a 15-16mm round which is easy to find plugs for.
one is a square hole (see photo, has a zip tie in it currently) in rear left bed near top.
four are small oval holes in the front of the bed on both sides. see...
