This is perfect….
Wife - “are you looking up truck stuff again!”
Me - “nope, I am learning a new language”
thanks guys, this helps a lot! lol
I am most often on a budget so built my own. I don’t have a shop so had the local metal shop bend the brackets and paid a welder from marketplace to Weld it. Just another option.
good advice!
I think upgrading the leaf springs is a must, I haven’t yet and the back of my truck sags a bit. It will be my next improvement.
otherwise I am pretty happy with bilstein 6112 and 5160’s.
other then suspension, depending on off-roading, I find the vulnerable points on these trucks...
my 2 cents,
I don’t mind mudders in general. I have pro comp xtreme mt2, great off-road, too much vibration and noise on road. I am moving to aggressive all terrains. Although I would try a different brand mudder down the road if I feel something lacking.
I have 285/70/17, had a bit of running at first but it was the fender liner. Recently ford did and alignment and it’s now rubbing on the plastic blocks behind the tire. I will most likely remove them and look into new UCA’s to move the tire forward with new alignments and possibly go up a tire size.
Ok, as we probably both knew…. There is no room under the hood, soooooo…. The winch controller took up the space I had for that nice looking panel and I had to abandon that idea along with the distribution bars. I put the winch controller on the drivers side in front of the battery with the...
Forgot to include it here but I have added a JCR Offrod bumper, a warn VR EVO 10S, and a vivid lumen midnight light bar. I also have an Aux beam switch that I am still installing.
the JCR bumper was fairly straight forward to install and their video was excellent to follow. Finding a place for...
My 2 cents
I started with a tonneau and tent in the box. Loved the setup but was always wanting to pack more lol. I also have a kid and when the family wanted to join sometimes.
I went to a topper, I don’t haul anything really and if I need to grab something big I just rent a trailer for the...
they are also adjustable so could compensate but like I said mine never sagged. The back end of my truck is a different story with topper and drawers etc.
My favourite setup in my truck bed is a big slide tray I made, I love being able to grab and tie down anything without climbing in. I also made my own panels for the sides and find them useful but can live without them.
I just replaced mine, luckily it was covered under warranty and right after I had an alignment done. That does mean I don’t have useful diy info to add. It was droning while driving most noticeable between 60 - 80 kph.
Well I had a droning in the front drivers side wheel after about 60 kph, went to the dealer for an alignment and front end inspection, turns out it was a wheel bearing. Luckily covered under warranty. Not too exciting but glad it’s fixed.
