Finished the passenger side bilstein strut this morning. It was a piece of cake. Maybe an hour after last nights driver side debacle. Anyways when pulling back into garage I heard a grinding in the drivers side, so after passenger side I decided to tear the drivers side back down. The cv shaft...
Started the Bilsteins 5100 front install. I’ve done numerous struts before but this one flat out whipped my rear. The previous owner had a leveling kit on and that was coming off. They obviously pulled the cv in half because it had a hose clamp on the boot and old grease all over everything. Got...
I started the post about the Dorman pan inquiring about any usage. I went ahead and purchased for same reasons you are thinking. I could not stop the first one from leaking at the gasket. Sent it back and got a new one. I was never able to stop the second one from leaking at the drain. After...
Mine was identical. Found somewhere on here that someone mentioned the Mr.clean magic erasers. I went through about 4 (hard scrubbing) but it took whatever the hell it was off and continues to look good.
Ordered front and rear Bilsteins 5100’s. Probably be a couple weeks before I put them on, well the fronts will be but rears immediately when they come in.
A 19 with 22k. Obviously it’s not driven a lot so I wanted to ask how long had it been setting since last time started? Also, are you running the motor craft filter? Curious if it has a faulty filter that’s draning down on you over long time periods.
i was probably one of the earlier ones that ordered the Dorman pan. In fact I created a thread on asking others their experience. Didn’t get any thing back saying not to, so I did it. First one I could never tighten the plug tight enough to keep it from leaking. Changed the crush washer two...
Hey fellas, were these wheels an option for the rangers? I've either complicated it by going cross eyed or thinking they were bronco options. Possibly have a decent deal and wasn't 100% positive they'd fit if bronco wheels. Appreciate the help.
Got the new pan in. Pulled the plug on the new one before anything else. I’d bet a lot of money the same result would have happened. I wasn’t taking the chance and I went and bought a package of new crush washers. Put the new pan on with new crush washer. She’s doing like it’s supposed to do and...
Just done mine and I had to use 1/2” extensions and ratchet with swivel from top. Some gorilla from ford factory put that bad boy on. It’s friggin tight. It’ll break loose.
Mike I don’t want to derail this thread on this but thought I’d ask before I go and create another thread. Have you or any others watching this sent their used transmission oil off to black stone for an analysis. Is there any beneficial info to getting a UOA on transmission being it can’t really...
Not sure yet. with my back issues there was just no way I could do a second day up under there today. Once I get the new one in and old one off I will find out why one way or the other. Going have to get a few things as I’ll have to salvage and filter the fluid I just put in it to take it back...
You are correct in that aspect. I suspect it will leave as much as a 1/4” of fluid in the bottom After it drains. What found left over in my Oem pan was merely old fluid. All “extra” material was in tact with the magnet. There was not sludge or debry that I found. It’s certainly not the best pan...
Wait for that decision. After starting on this thing yesterday at 10am and finishing at 6:30 you could imagine my pissed offness this morning when I found a puddle the size of a large pancake this morning. Dripping from the GD drain plug. Guess I’ll be tearing it back apart. Plug is tight.
Thank you for that clarification. I'm waiting on some more fluid as I didn't buy enough and it's being delivered in about an hour. Its not even at the tip of the stick yet so I don't want to start or run it yet until I can get it back to what the original oem stick showed this morning.
I honestly am not a transmission guy or even pretend I know. I was just relaying what mine was at before I drooped the pan and added the new dipstick. I figured it would have at least been higher up being as it had plenty of time to drain down out of the valleys and ports that were going to...
