  1. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Yea, guys in the Miata world that race seriously take their front hubs and pack them with new grease, just about all you can do to make them last a little longer. I never raced all that seriously so I never burned one up.
  2. Android Auto map "add a report" feature coming?

Yea, I used to use it and honestly don't remember why I stopped. Friggen oldtimers is getting me. Might have to give it another shot next trip.
  3. 3D Printable 'Rain Guard' - Keep the water out of your spark plug wells

Once I get through with a couple projects I have stacked up, I might be able to be talked in to printing a few. Won't charge anything more than shipping for them.... Just need to free up some time, and I'll only be making a very small number of them....like no more than 5.
  4. Rear Brake Wearing

Very possible. I think there is a lack of cooling for the rear pads as well.
  5. Dealership repaired my transmission

Be sure to up your maintenance game with the new trans.
  6. Rear Brake Wearing

Not surprised. For whatever reason, the rear brakes on these trucks are a bit sucky. Even if they don't wear out, the rotors and pads don't seem to hold up for the long haul. Mine were far from being worn but were doing something akin to leaving deposits and making the rear brakes shudder...
  7. Android Auto map "add a report" feature coming?

Result of them merging some of the Wayz technology in.
  8. 3D Printable 'Rain Guard' - Keep the water out of your spark plug wells

Lol, pound it... Kidding.... Yea, I have it so it sits under the plastic and metal, so suspended off the bottom. That's why you need either bolts or longer push thingees to grab it. The OEM ones are too short of course. Did I not upload the updated one?
  9. Who's Your Favorite You-Tube Mechanic

South Main Auto Watch Wes Work FordTechMakuloco Also - Lake Speed Jr.s oil channel. Just cause I'm nerdy. I'll usually speed through the I do Cars vids. Like seeing things in pieces. Never ceases to amaze me at some of the high dollar engines that people maintain about as well as a...
  10. Transmission fluid change but no filter change?

Yep, I agree with him, although I do it sooner, I'm a nutcase.
  11. Stuck and crushed oil filter

Part of the reason I went to the longer filters. Easier to get hold of and put a little ass behind twisting them off.
  12. Transmission fluid change but no filter change?

    Found it: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/a-look-inside-our-transmission-filter.25548/
  13. Transmission fluid change but no filter change?

I tore one down once, there's pictures up here somewhere of it. It is a nice filter.
  14. Transmission fluid change but no filter change?

Nothing wrong with leaving the filter and just changing the fluid. It is a well designed piece. I wouldn't let it go the full 150k, but 60-80k should be just fine.
  15. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Not sure how or where you would drill a grease fitting through a sealed bearing cage. I have pulled seals out of bearings and packed them with higher quality grease before. That's about the only think I would think you could do to these hubs.
  16. Transmission or DPFE sensor

Sure enough, they are on to the 'c' part JL3Z-7A100-C is the 'new' valve body, JL3Z-7A100-A was the 'old' one. Wonder what they changed. Too bad it requires messing around with programming. For $400 I'd try one.
  17. It happened again.

Same. I usually make it a point to grab a couple of the 'left by losers' carts on the way into the store. It seems like it keeps getting worse. I'd be all for the Aldi method of making you pay $.25 for them.
  18. Transmission or DPFE sensor

Problem is, as far as I know (granted, I don't have any kind of inside baseball information) Ford still hasn't done anything to update the valve bodies to keep it from happening again. They're just replacing them with more of the same. (Or at least not since early 2023), GM Meanwhile, is on...
  19. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

They wouldn't. I was mainly just remarking on the fact that a lof of people swear that you have to get the flange on the back of the driveshaft reinstalled in the exact same location as it came off (of the differential). Its just not so. They don't balance the whole drivetrain as an assembly...
