  2. Slide in Camper Inquiry

I am hoping @P. A. Schilke sees this! I have a 2020 Lariat Super Crew w/ Factory Tow package. I am buying a Northern Lite 6'10" Slide in camper. The sticker dry weight 780lbs. (some models topped out at 1050 lbs, but mine doesn't have a grey tank or water heater etc so sticker should be close.)...
  3. Slide in Camper question

My thoughts too, I would prefer not to have rock damage. I plan on getting another Ford Camera and mounting in on the Camper so I can use my back up cam, but that's another project.
  4. Slide in Camper question

The camper height from floor to bedrail is 17.5", so my platform will be 4-5" high. Total height of the camper is 75.5". No issues with Tailgate getting damaged from rocks etc?
  5. Slide in Camper question

I am buying a NL 6'10" slide in camper. Dry Weight is 780lbs. Given that my box is only 5'1", I will have a 1'9" overhang. Should I leave the tailgate on or take it off? (it would go right to the edge of the tailgate) I have to build a 4" platform to raise the camper high enough to clear the...
  6. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

There are already people towing the Scamp with short box Rangers, Canyons, Tacomas.(see pics posted previously) That was never in question. I want my rails to be frame mounted, not bed mounted. That seems to be the issue. No one makes a bolt on solution for the Ranger. I’d rather not have to...
  7. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

The trailer is 3000lbs with a 300lb pin weight.

    Someone beat me to it,
  9. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Can I sit with the cool kids now?
  10. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

That Alto is amazing. Can you imagine the views? And it fits in a garage! My dream solution would be this, if we could get them here: Link: https://camp-crown.de/portfolio-items/mono-6-wohnkabine/
  11. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

Ya right, next you'll try to tell me that advertised Fuel economy isn't accurate! I think the biggest challenge (for me) is that the ranger is a shorter, narrower tow vehicle. I am not a huge fan of tow behinds in general. (sway, size, awkwardness, maneuverability etc.) There are a few brands...
  12. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

For sure! I don’t think an escape is suitable for us. I like the idea of the Scamp. It’s just nice to see there are options. Or possibly a small trailer.
  13. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

The 5’1” box isn’t ideal but the Andersen ultimate hitch moves the pin back 6 inches. (Hitch recommended by Escape). The pin weight is 600lbs, not 900. People pull the Escape with the Colorado as well.

Here is another example of a gooseneck 5th wheel I was considering: https://escapetrailer.com/the-5-0-escape/ Well within spec. And heights. https://f.hubspotusercontent40.net/hubfs/5474298/ETI-01095-01TOWING-GUIDELINES-ESCAPE-5.0-1-1.pdf?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fescapetrailer.com%2F
  15. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

    No issues with those clearances.
  16. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

For sure. I don’t mind paying a premium for quality. The issue is that North American manufacturing is just not good. Even the better brands like Jayco still use nail plates and box frame cabinets etc, not everyone uses pocket screws and dovetail joints. The industry is stagnant and they keep...
  17. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

We were looking at the Tab400. I really don’t want the typical North American stick and staple crap. We owned a Forest River and I vowed to never buy one again. I liked the idea of having more space in a shorter footprint. And the maneuverability. It’s too bad we don’t have the selection and...
  18. New Ranger member in Canada!

That looks an awful lot like the one I test drove at Steeltown!
  19. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

Thanks! The trailer in question is under 3000lbs dry and only <400lbs on the hitch. I know I am well under. I really like the idea of having such a compact trailer, short overall combined length and the ease/stability of towing over the axle. Not to mention maneuverability!
  20. 5th Wheel Bed Rails / Gooseneck solution

200lb difference isn’t a big deal. At this point it’s splitting hairs over a -2.7% difference in rated towing capacity. It’s too bad the turbo diesel isn’t available in NA. My original point is that I would like to get a frame mounted goose neck as opposed to bed mounted. Towing over the axle...
