  1. Options to make the perfect next gen Ranger

It doesn't have to make economic sense to you at all,or anyone for that matter. I have owned diesels in the past, and it's my preferred engine option. NO, I have no need for a f150/250/350.
  2. Options to make the perfect next gen Ranger

DIESEL,I want a diesel option. Also,I need both the crew cab AND a 6+ ft bed. Work on it please. Center console armrest that isn't almost usable from the back seats,(sarc). After the holidays,I will go with the Linex spray in,and a rubber bed mat.
  4. Is this true? MUST finish drain and refill in 10 mins or RISK involved

. My last new vehicle,a 2015 ram promaster city wagon,I ran royal purple AND their microfiber filter. Had the oil changed once a year, and it was still very very clean. Cleaner than any other oil/filter combo I had tried. And yes, that includes Mobile 1 full synth. This time around I will go...
  5. Is this true? MUST finish drain and refill in 10 mins or RISK involved

    It's under a big piece of plastic.....I hope ;}>
  6. Is this true? MUST finish drain and refill in 10 mins or RISK involved

Back in the days of distributors, after a fresh build or rebuild, used an old distributor shaft on a drill and primed the oil galleries until at least 40psi showed .Priming done.
  7. Is this true? MUST finish drain and refill in 10 mins or RISK involved

Welcome home brother, and thank you for your service. I flew two tours in Vietnam, and on my first I was in a bad crash,(engine failure). It compressed my spine/neck,and broke my left shoulder. When taken to the evac, without xrays they pronounced it was 'muscle strain'. I was prior to that crash...
  8. Is this true? MUST finish drain and refill in 10 mins or RISK involved

I'm an old harley wrench.Built them, fixed them, rode them, owned my own shop. My rule of thumb: ALWAYS use the shop manual. Nobody remembers everything.
  9. Upgrade Path for Increasing Power

I've already had my 'smiles per gallon' back in the muscle car days,(60's and early 70's). Now I want, and have a truck that is fast, powerful and efficient. By improving overall efficiency, one is also improving performance. Just not to the level that most want. And if a tune does leave a...
  10. Uncomfortable

Back in my off roading days, often the larger tires needed some extra attention. To see if the inflation is about right,we would 'chalk the tires'. Using the big chalk you can get at most builders supply store,( Lowes/home depot) etc. Take that chalk and lay it on it's side,(length wise) and...
  11. Uncomfortable

I have the 18's,hankooks on my ranger Lariat,sc/sb/mt pkg/fx4. Door label says 30psi,front and rear. When I picked it up,two were 0ver 40psi,one at 39psi,and one at 35 psi. Dealer prep,ya gotta love it...I have them all at 32psi now.
  12. Report your MPG

Did a road trip,314 miles, than filled up,21.835mpg. That was with less than 1k miles on it.For that trip, mostly hwy,and lots of hills/passes.Hwy posted sl is 65,I kept it on cruise for the most part with it set at 68mph. Once off the hwy it was fairly slow going all the way to the PCH,on up into...
  13. Upgrade Path for Increasing Power

Hi Phil, Somewhat true. But today's intake systems seem to be pretty good at flowing air. The exhaust offers much more restriction than the intake does. Freeing that up will allow the stock intake system to really flow better. HOWEVER,I will not use an oiled filter. Not K&N,not anybody's.My last...
  14. Upgrade Path for Increasing Power

Less restriction in the exhaust should easily lower exhaust temps.
  15. Cold air intake

If I mod a vehicle, the very first change is always the exhaust system. That alone will show you a bigger improvement then leaving it,(exhaust), stock and throwing on a cai. The stock intake will flow crazy better with the exhaust freed up.
  16. Upgrade Path for Increasing Power

It has been my experience that the biggest gain over a stock config is the exhaust. Free that up for the biggest gain in a stock setup. A cai is fine, but one needs to free up the exhaust first. I'm not much on tuners as an exhaust system and cai doesn't void the warranty.
  17. Oil Catch Can. Yes or No?
