The Hankook ATm is a good tire overall, but in 2018 it doesn't hold up to the competition anymore. There are a lot of reports of poor wear and poor wet weather traction after 50% treadlife is worn. I ran a set in the 265/75-16 size several years ago and they felt really "squishy" to me. But...
I think my 2003 4.0L had 210 horsepower. But it also weighed a little over 3,600 lbs. This new Ranger is 275 horsepower? And 800 lbs. heavier? There will be a performance difference, but not as much as we may think.
As far as cannibalizing F-150 sales, the pricing on Ranger will be enough...
That is how Jeep did the new JL Wrangler. My entire body is aluminum or magnesium except for the rear tub corners and the floorpans. They said making the entire thing out of aluminum would cost too much. My 4-door tips the scales around 4,200 lbs.
Having said that, isn't the Supercab F-150...
I saw those Level II's on the lot when I bought my FX4 new back in 2003. Those were the top of the line Rangers, and they were still under $30,000. Boy, those days are long gone.
My 2003 Supercab FX4 with auto trans and towing package was a little over $25,000. Seems like the 2019 will be around $10,000 more similarly equipped. I guess all things considered it's not a bad deal, considering the safety enhancements, more powerful engine, and far superior transmission.
Yep, my JL Sport Unlimited with the "S" package (alloy wheels, power windows/locks, tinted glass, leather wrapped steering wheel), hardtop, automatic trans, and 7" touch screen radio stickered at $39,840. Absolutely insane. The Saharas and Rubicons on the lot were all $45,000 and beyond...
The V6 in the JL/upcoming JT is the "PUG" version of the 3.6L and it's a sweet engine. 13% more torque in the low and mid section of the powerband. The torque curve on a dyno chart is as flat as a Kansas highway. I'm currently seeing 18.5 MPGs average in mine, running 34" tires on a 2.5" lift...
I have the JL Unlimited and it's noticeably smaller than the outgoing JK model. I'm 6'3" and I find the JL to be somewhat uncomfortable. My left knee is against the door panel, my right knee rests on the transfer case shifter, my head is a couple of inches from the "sport bar" structure, and...
I have a 2018 Wrangler Unlimited that I leased in April. I have owned a couple of Rangers and a few F-150s and Mustangs in the past, and I still have a Mach 1 so being a Ford guy I really wanted the new Ranger. However, the dealers had NO information on the new truck whatsoever and Ford seemed...
