  1. I just bought one!

Most ESS systems have a list of criteria that must be met before they'll go into stop/start mode. Usually if the weather is really cold, mine won't go into ESS because the cabin is heating up. Very nice looking truck!
  2. #fakenews: DIYers Take Note – the 2019 Ford Ranger’s Oil Change Procedure Contains a Big Extra Step

I think there are actually fasteners to remove to access the drain bolt too aren't there? And then having to reach around the tire.. ugh.. Reminds me of my wife's 2011 Nissan Maxima. It could be so much easier. Of course, a lot of guys won't care because they'll have their oil changes done...
  3. Tray Style Floor Liners?

A quality set of floor liners is a must-have for those of us who live where we get snow. Snow storms make a nasty mess of a truck interior.
  4. #fakenews: DIYers Take Note – the 2019 Ford Ranger’s Oil Change Procedure Contains a Big Extra Step

Having no access panels to remove to get to the oil pan drain bolt, needing no jack to do the job, and having a top-load oil filter that can be swapped out in 30 seconds has really spoiled me. I don't understand why Ford hasn't copied the ease of maintenance that other brands have. I want to...
  5. Oil Filter Access Training Webinar

You have to remove plastic trim rivets. How many times will you be able to do that before you have to replace them? Then there's a panel flapping in the way. And that's after cranking the wheel one direction to make space. No, that doesn't sound awful, but it is a pain in the ass and it's...
  6. Fitting into garage

My JL Wrangler Unlimited is 15.7 feet long. It fits in my garage pretty well. I have about a foot of space in front and in back. I figure I could in theory fit a vehicle up to a maximum of 18 feet in length. I just looked up the specs and it seems the JT Gladiator pickup is 18.1 feet long...
  7. First Ranger5G member to take delivery of a 2019 Ranger!

    That's cool! Keep us updated!
  8. 2019 Ford Ranger vs F-150 In Head-To-Head Drag Race

All I've heard from people who own them is what a nightmare they are. But as far as personal experience, the closest I've got is my brother who drives a F-150 EcoBoost with around 60,000 miles on it now and it's already been in the shop for a long while once last year and this year he said his...
  9. Dyno'd power difference between regular gas (87 octane) and premium gas (92 octane)

Neat-O. Since the Ranger has 3.73 gears, taller tires, different transmission, and a different cam/tuning profile to detune it for truck use, I'd say that the same testing on a Ranger would yield vastly different results than what we see above. But, it's still cool nonetheless. Hopefully...
  10. 2019 Ford Ranger vs F-150 In Head-To-Head Drag Race

Does the 2.3L still suffer from danger of the block cracking between cylinder #2 and #3? Mustang owners were having that issue when they pushed the engine hard. Personally, I still don't fully trust the EcoBoost engine program. The laws of physics dictate that it takes a certain amount of air...
  11. Maximum speed in 4-High ?

Well, obviously it's a BAD idea to use 4WD on dry pavement or even in the rain. So when you use this, it's going to be snowy or icy or you're going to be offroad, and in none of those cases should you ever been traveling at 70 MPH. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter...
  12. 2019 Ford Ranger Sightings at Dealerships Tracker & Map

That one close to me (Oxmoor Ford, Louisville, KY) is BEAUTIFUL. But it's not on their website so it must be already sold.
  13. 2019 Ford Ranger Tech Specs

In the limited under-hood pics I've seen, I haven't noticed a vacuum solenoid for the 4x4 hubs at the front axles. Does this mean the Ranger uses permanently connected front axles like many other U.S. vehicles with the only disconnect being at the transfer case itself?
  14. Maximum towing capacity questions.

You beat me to it. A lot of guys don't realize that NEW trucks sold today are being tested and labeled per this new specification. It took a while to get all the automakers to agree to use it, but it seems almost all of them are on board now.
  15. Comments on actual test drive reviews

The main complaint I've seen is the interior, particularly on Lariat models with the single speedo in the cluster. The dash looks like it was pulled out of a 2012 Edge. Not truck-like at all, and not what you'd expect on a 2019 model with a $40,000+ MSRP. As far as driving it is concerned...
  16. First Ranger5G Members to Have Their 2019 Ranger Built!

Nice!! What's the MSRP on a build like that?
  17. Heated steering wheel available?

Well that's a bummer. Hopefully Ford will add a heated steering wheel option to the Ranger in 2020.
  18. Heated steering wheel available?

Jeep has a "cold weather package" that includes remote start, heated seats, and most importantly a heated steering wheel. My wife's Jeep has this package, and that heated steering wheel is worth it's weight in gold. It's one of those things you'd never give much of a thought, but after you...
  19. Pre production Ranger at local dealer - my impressions and photos

On the first page, what is that green line running on top of the front coil spring perch? Is that a vacuum line for the disconnecting wheel hub? That's what I'm trying to figure out; does this truck have a permanent connection in the front axle like the 2001-2011 Ranger 4x4 had, or has it gone...
