I prefer the design where the inlet is at the bottom so if water does get in it's not shooting directly at the air filter. When I will be offroad I run a pre-filter to keep any super fine dust out and it's hydrophobic too.

Every pass i made on the 1/8 was traction off, 4 high, locker on in sport. It was still locked at the end of the run. I know because when turning off you could hear it was still locked.
