I see this argument a lot, that the turbos in EB engines will die prematurely for long term heavy duty towing. But I don't think that the argument holds when you're comparing that to heavy duty towing with diesels? Diesels are in the same boat with being heavy in the turbo when you're towing.
I didn't come from an Explorer, but I can guarantee that you'll be getting better fuel economy with the Ranger! I'm getting 24-26 mpg on the highway depending on speed. 20-24 city depending on conditions.
If the app was not clunky/slow to start up, I would maaaybe consider paying for the service if it was $10/month since I was too cheap to order remote start.
Now if they could link the app to Siri/Google Assistant, THAT would be convenient. Imagine just having your phone in your pocket, walking...
Update: sorry guys don't mean to spam the thread, but here's a side by side pic that I just got between a stock FX4 XLT Ranger and my FX4 XLT Ranger with the 31.6" Falkens. The size difference is so evident side by side!
I have no doubts that the engineers at Ford have this engine dialed back so there is definitely some room for more power. My only concern is that I don't like the idea that these tuning companies don't really do true durability tests on vehicles with these tunes. I'm sure reputable companies...
Another confirmation on fitment with 265/70/17 (just under 32") whereas OEM is 265/65/17 (30.6"). I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3W - with a set being $500, can't beat the value. There's no rubbing at full lock when static, but I will note that when I zipped into a parking space, I heard a little...
I'm wondering the same, I went up an inch as well with the Falkens. For one revolution of the driveshaft, the tire now covers more distance so yes, the MPG should be inflated. But, that also assumes that you're using the same amount of fuel for one revolution of the driveshaft. Now that the...
@rangerdanger posted about this a while back. You can buy just the skid plates for surprisingly pretty cheap:

Nope, I didn't bother. My deductible is $1000 (Michigan no-fault rates suck) and the shop quoted me $600 so I was pretty much SOL. But that's true, it's probably not on CarFax. Either way, I have pictures and invoices that prove that it was surface level. Good luck on your repairs man!
Something like this happened to my Ranger as well :( I was driving down the interstate and a sign post on the road got kicked up by the car next to me and gouged my driver side rear door. Sucked even more for me because it was debris on the road, and not really worth going through the state DOT...
I'm assuming it's from the 0-60 times. If you take the difference in times, you can calculate the estimated horsepower difference with some simple physics equations.
I don't think anyone was expecting it to be a smart phone transmission and I don't think anyone thought that this trans would change to whoever was driving it. Pretty sure that it's understood that the transmission is just adaptive.
And honest feedback man, no you weren't. You were being...
Lol, I didn't realize that this topic would irk someone so much. I'm sorry that I was just paraphrasing straight from the TSB:
Either way, shifts felt off the day of the update. They feel much smoother now so there definitely is some re-learning/re-calibration process after the flash.
You can remove the crash bars without removing the front bumper? Could you let us know how? Everyone who has posted has said that they cut them off because the bumper gets in the way. From when I've peeked in the wheel well it looks like the bumper gets in the way too.
