I just go to the touchless places with an underspray if I need to get some salt off. Getting caked on mud/clay is a whole different story though, underspray won't do anything. I typically use a pressure washer and get 90% off. After that, it's the good ol' garden hose and lay on my back lol...
Yep, I forgot to mention mud. I drove my truck through thick, sloppy mud and they just got completely clogged. But I don't fault the tire, that's not what it was designed for.
I think the complaints on the Dynapros aren't warranted either. When I had them on for the first 10k miles, I had no issues whatsoever with them. Really quiet, good mpg, great traction in inclement weather (deep snow included). They're probably better in the snow than other aggressive A/T tires...
Quick update, I changed out the spark plugs myself with new Motorcraft ones (Part #: SP-578) and it runs marginally better (I think?), but it definitely didn't solve the issue. Next is definitely the EGR pressure sensor after the holidays. The pic below is of my old spark plugs, they don't look...
Thanks Daniel.
I'm sorry, what? Never was I rude to the service rep. I'm just expressing my frustration that the dealership didn't fix my powertrain issue when I still have powertrain warranty, while trying to upsell me on services I don't need.
I dropped my truck off at the dealer to have them diagnose the bucking issue. Was debating if I wanted to do change spark plugs and the EGR sensor myself, but I got pretty busy so I figured I would just drop it off at the dealer since I still have powertrain warranty.
Got a call back and they...
Holy s**t. Nightmare is an understatement. Truly appreciate you documenting everything though.
As a quick update, pulled my cabin air filter. It was intact, but there were mouse turds and some sunflower seeds. Looks like I got a mouse and not a squirrel as he was able to push the filter aside...
This past weekend I went to stay at a cabin in the woods....and on my drive back, I opened up my glovebox, and it just showered down with sunflower seed shells! I usually don't keep much food in my vehicles, especially if we go camping/in the woods. But this time I forgot about my pack of...
Exactly the info I was looking for, truly appreciate the insightful response Paul!. Wiring in an inline fuse after tapping into the cargo lamp circuit sounds like the correct solution for redundancy, I think I will do the same. Thank you!
I like the idea of tapping into the cargo lamp circuit, but I have two concerns.
1) I don't think the cargo lamp turns on when you open the tailgate, correct? It turns on when you either unlock with the key fob (which is convenient), or when you hit the cargo lamp button.
2) The cargo lamp is...
Haha I always seem to be in the minority when I actually love the FJ. There's no other modern SUV that has clamshell doors, 3 wipers, and a manual to boot! I do agree though that it could have been so much more.
But I agree, there's nothing that Toyota makes that pushes the technology envelope...
Lol same, I couldn't take that article seriously when he thinks that electric fans are "too complicated". I mean, come on, that's the least complicated thing out of the whole hybrid truck!
