  1. Who’s Overlanding the Ranger?

Along with the Overland specific mods, I’ve done quite a few supporting mods. The engine is running the Ford Performance tune, a Mountune intercooler, Mishimoto intake, GFB DV+ VTA progressive diverter, and an AWE cat back exhaust. I’m into a few more power mods than planned but they help a...
  2. Who’s Overlanding the Ranger?

    Thanks. I love the color.
  3. Who’s Overlanding the Ranger?

Currently working on the camper interior build out. I’ve installed BuiltRight paneks and a cougar organization bags. Will have the HiLift and a few other essentials mounted shortly. Next up, we’re going to build a raised floor which will accommodate our camping essentials under the floor...
  4. Who’s Overlanding the Ranger?

From Cali, we went straight to Montana to pickup our GFC v2.
  5. Who’s Overlanding the Ranger?

Next up, Rigd Ultraswing tire carrier with integrated table and ability to mount my propane bottle and other small accessories. The Ultraswing also allows us to carry our MTBs on the swing away.
  6. Who’s Overlanding the Ranger?

I’m in the midst of building a reasonably capable overlander out of a Ranger. I started with a well optioned ā€˜21 XLT 4x4 in Cactus Gray. The stock truck went straight to APG in SoCal for their full ProRunner conversion. The build included long travel suspension with King dampers, hd rear leaf...
  7. Gearing upgrade?? after Leveling kit + 33” tires

My APG built ProRunner with FP tune, 35’s and. GFC, gets 15.5 - 16 MPG at 70-75 MPH on level’ish ground in SoCal. Pulling 75-80 MPH in Montana with a bit of wind it drops to sub-10 MPG and approximately 150 mile useable range. I’ve played around with various shifting approaches and have found...
  8. Long range fuel tank

i’d love an off the shelf option. Not my first rodeo with fuel cells. It’s not that hard to do, but not that easy either. I was all in with LR but months are passing. To be clear, I’d be building a cell that completely replaces the factory tank. Not a transfer tank. fingers crossed that LR...
  9. Long range fuel tank

That’s what I understand as well. Spoke to LR a few weeks ago and it’s all up in the air. I’m starting to look around for other options such as a full custom fuel cell. My milage drops into the single digits pushing a head wind over mount passes. This bring ls my useable rang down to as low...
  10. Long range fuel tank

@slowmachine - I can’t argue, there are certainly other options that come from the factory with greater range. But, I want a Ranger with greater range. Fingers crossed that option becomes available shortly.
  11. Long range fuel tank

@Frenchy - Embrace the silly! @slowmachine - Your logic and verifiable references make perfect sense if you live/recreate in urban areas @J Krutsch - You get it. Those that don't live and spend all their time in the rural West just don't have a point of reference. I routinely play in areas...
  12. Long range fuel tank

I’m still in as well. Heck, I don’t even want the Ranger without this mod. LR tank or selling!
  13. Long range fuel tank

    Any updates on this project?
  14. Ring & Pinion 4:10

Great update! I'm near to sending my truck to APG which is now doing gears on the 4x4's. I'm going with 4:56's to compensate for the 35's.
  15. Worth swapping to Tremor rear leaf springs?

"worth it?" that's for you to decide. That said, what Ford did is spec a progressive spring pack and upgraded Fox shocks on the Tremor. If you want to replicate that on your truck, a set of Deaver progressive spring packs and Fox 2.0's would do the trick. Very common mod across a variety of...
  16. Gearing upgrade?? after Leveling kit + 33” tires

Back on topic... Will be fitting 35's shortly and while I think it's great that the EB and 10spd combo can mask the downsides of larger tires but it's still a hack job IMO. I'm going with 4.56's which puts me a hair lower than stock to hopefully compensate for not only the height of the tires...
  17. Frame-cut prerunner bumper?

It's perplexing to me that the Raptor-centric vendors haven't come up with a really slim frame-cut bumper. RPG has a "pre-runner" style bumper but it appears to stick out quite a bit further than the SVC design https://www.rpgoffroad.com/product/2019-up-ranger-prerunner-bumper/ I wonder if...
  18. FX-4 & Tremor & Front Locker

Yeah, they figured this all out back in the Hummer H3 days. Those were basically the predecessor to the modern Colorado. The early ones had issues with the front diff but they solved that in '09 when they beefed it up. It appears they simply carried forward that design to the current gen...
  19. Frame-cut prerunner bumper?

SVC makes a good looking pre-runner style bumper. I'm not certain if it requires cutting the frame horns as many Raptor bumpers do but it looks like they achieved pretty good clearance in any event.
  20. FX-4 & Tremor & Front Locker

I was hoping for a front locker for my Ranger build but after a little investigation, the front diff is not strong enough in stock form and will require a bunch of money to get it up to snuff. I've had several rigs with rear lockers, currently have a truck with a rear locker and front LSD, and...
