OK Here are two pictures. The original problem is that the stock Ford mirror slopes sharply at the end and the straps slid off. The bracket holds the straps in place.

I have the second one in your post. They do NOT fit without some help. I made a small bracket for them and it works out OK. I will take a picture tomorrow and post it. I will be towing next week, so they will get a good test (900 miles).

I am going to pick up my trailer next week. It will be empty coming home (about 2300 pounds) so a good test of the aerodynamics effects and light loading.. Since it will be my first significant tow, will probably drive slowly, at least for a while. Trip home will be about 900 miles.

other than sitting there drinking a frosty beverage and looking at the cable getting frustrated about it, who really cares? Exactly. I NEVER would have noticed if this discussion was not started. Just pressed down lightly and it tightened up.

I had never looked before. Because of this discussion, I actually looked yesterday. And, YES one (driver side) is SLIGHTLY loose.

My ranger does not have remote start on the key thing (that just locks and unlocks the doors). I have used the FordPass remote several times and will probably use it a lot more as the temperature goes up.

A month or so ago someone posted the "dealer prep" checklist that the dealer is supposed to follow. Adjust tire pressure AND fill wind shield washer fluid are both on the list.

Came in the morning UPS delivery. Total install time (both sides) about 45 minutes. Everything fit perfectly. They look great. Now I need to get used to actually taking the step.

Are you using towing mirrors or just the standard ones?

Some dealers really vacuum. (you know what that device does)

I'm just running "regular" whatever that is.

I am very interested to see if the addition of my cover makes any difference in highway MPG. Driving from Dallas to Georgia next week Will be a good test.
