  1. New GFC topper

This is pretty similar to the Alu-Cab topper i was looking at, and really the only advantage over RSI for example is that the aluminum frame Alu-Cab and GFC use is lighter - I was looking for something two middle-agers could move around without help. The price tag is tough, for sure.
  2. Current Wait Times on Toppers, Canopies? Snugtop, Leer, Century, ARE?

Ordered an Alu-Cab Explorer back in February when the distributor in this part of the world announced that they’d have a version for the Ranger in ā€œearly summerā€. Even sounded like it was ā€œon the waterā€ shortly after my order. Fast forward to August, and a very embarrassed distributor tells me...
  3. Waterproof in-bed storage box?

I love these bins, got a couple of each size last summer to organize our camping gear. They stack well and the covers are very secure with all of those latches. Can’t vouch for how watertight they are since I use mine under a tonneau, but the gasket seal looks pretty good. Unfortunately Home...
  4. Winter tires?

I ran the stock all-seasons the first winter with my XLT, and decided that I wouldn’t do a second, especially since I moved out to acreage country east of Edmonton. Bought a set of Nokian Hakkapelitta R3s last winter and was really happy with them on the semi-maintained secondary roads outside...
  5. What are you using for tow mirrors?

I’ve also had this with my strap on mirrors. Not often, but definitely annoying when it does happen as the timing isn’t usually the best. For guys running with the Clearview mirrors, have you had any problems with them folding in when passing oncoming trucks? I’m thinking about upgrading...
  6. Anybody seen premium cheaper than this?

Looks like weā€˜re going below $1.50 in Northern Alberta, gotta be the first time in recorded history that gas has gone down significantly rolling into a long weekend.
  7. 12V Cooler

Just picked up a Bluetti EB70 and an ICECO VL45 Pro on Prime Day sales. Really liked the Setpower dual zone options, but Setpower wanted $300 shipping to Canada…. Nope, sorry. The ICECO shipped from Ontario so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there’s no customs duties to be paid. Can’t...
  8. I Need Help Planning Our Next Trip

One of the reasons I went in September - we don’t have kids so first preference is always to take time off while school is in session. Thins out the herd, so to speak. Our parks in Canada are just as bad now, if you’re not to where you want to be by 9:00am, you’re likely not getting in. i...
  9. I Need Help Planning Our Next Trip

I did Yellowstone and Grand Teton in Sept 2018, both are well worth the trip. Spent 5 days total, and could have probably spent 2-3 more days in each park, there’s a lot to see and do in both places. A few things I learned…. 1) Parking is a major PITA anywhere in the park. I had a pretty...
  10. Tiny Trailers/Teardrops

I’ve had an Aliner a-frame for a few years now. On the plus side, the headroom is good especially if you get one with dormers front and back, the solid walls are nice in cooler/rainy weather, and our trucks tow them very easily. It also fit (barely) in my single car garage for winter storage...
  11. First time towing a Travel Trailer (before i buy)

I’ll vouch for the Aliner. I took mine for its first trip last weekend and it was a dream to tow. Not quite the same league as a lot of the trailers on here, only around 3000 pounds loaded. Still plenty of power, and my mileage was better than the 2015 Pathfinder I replaced, averaged around...
