If you have the Fox stage 1 kit, I'd say your truck is more capable than an FX4 equipped truck. I didn't want the FX4 kit because I knew I was going to swap out the suspension for the Fox kit myself. IMO, the terrain modes are a gimmick.

I took the Ranger to an off road park this weekend and never switched into 4WD during my time in the park terrain. I just simply used the K.I.S.S method. Unless I'm stuck, 4WD is not needed.
