With all the hassles I had getting the starter assembly replaced when it was failing in that first year.. and the others who had the same issue, I'm not believing much in the "starter has been designed to handle it".
Sport mode for me
I agree. constantly get comments about its looks when I'm at stores.
But those brakes.. there have been a few times I've found the truck creeping forward when at a stop because I wasn't pushing the pedal hard enough and didn't notice.
That's a scary one. My problem has not reappeared since Memorial day replacement of the starter assembly.
Give the dealer a call and report the issue..
It finally came back. This time won't start at tall. Was happy with that, as now they have something they can find.
Towed off to the dealer on Fri, they've given me a courtesy car.
I also told them about this site and the other people who had the same problem/same symptoms, and asked them to...
Phil, that was exactly what would happen to starters back in our day.. but once they were at the bad spot, it usually was done until you pushed the car some to move the starter some. This felt (and still does) like some connection in the assembly going bad.
Thanks for your input though, I think...
I would not say that for sure.. as the truck sits overnight (especially outside) wires shrink and stretch based on temperature, etc. And just moving the battery wire might have jostled something, but there's a good chance this shows its electronic in my opinion.
I agree with Phil, a completely failing truck will be easier to diagnose. They keep telling me "they can't recreate the problem."
Let us know what you do learn .. Im starting to think when they look at mine, they wiggle or adjust something that makes it functional for a while, then it...
It started coming back last week. Went back to dealer, all they did was another PCM update (they could not recreate the problem).
Im wondering if its weather related? could it be related to the entertainment system (I use android auto all the time, don't think they did)? battery?
When it is occurring, I see the green light in the start button blinking, and a red battery indicator come up each time I try to start.
Generally, I have come to know that if you are at a red light or auto start/stop situation, you need to shift back to park. Shut off the truck, wait a minute...
This problem started coming back to me again last week.
Once again, I sent back to the dealer. They had it for a day and could not get it to occur. They did a PCM rewrite again, and I havent seen it since again (but I am careful to disable auto SS manually all the time now, and we are doing...
Agreed.. did the latest sync update last night..that eliminated the content popup to connect to networking. I'm holding off on the map thing because I use android auto for nav using Waze. Ford never sent me the link for the map download
"PIN POINT TEST .... STATES PCM UPDATE CHECK PCM SS INHIBIT PIDS REPROGRAM PCM OK CLEAR .." Service tech said needed a PCM reprogram. I'm an engineer.. someone will have to explain why a software change is needed if the hardware has not changed. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for...
