I created a new, updated build thread. Wanted to start from scratch and keep it mostly chronological with more details on each install, categorized, etc. Catch up over there!
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/2020-ranger-build.25727/
We'll go with other miscellaneous mods here. I will then post pictures on an ongoing basis, or as needed.
The leather and heated seats were the only thing I didn't do myself, I had Ford's custom department do them, not too expensive, but worth it to not have to clean my lovely wife's spills up...
Next, we'll go exhaust. BOY, was this a chronicle...
I started with the black dual split cat back exhaust from MBRP. Gave a nasty, but subdued, growl on acceleration. Loved it.
Next added an SPD Catted Downpipe, wrapped in some heatwrap, mounted with a 3" mid pipe - Clamped everything together...
We'll go with intake mods first...
I chose a Roush CAI, with a TurboSmart VTA BOV, along with a Velossa Tech Wide mouth scoop and an AFE Power Scoop. Easy mods, plug and play... Noticed with each, incremental turbo noise, not to mention a solid whoosh of the intake on acceleration. Plus the BOV...
Hey all! Been on the forum for a while, even posted an old build thread, but never updated it and didn't have much context.
Starting this one as a journal and tip thread for those also looking to do similar mods - I've still got more to do, but have a solid repertoire of mods and helpful hints...
Would recommend that BOV too. I did the vent to atmosphere. Took me a bit to realize how cool it actually is, at first I was hesitant to have the audible "PFF". Now I love it and it's a good measure of how much that turbo is spooled when you release it!
Y'all I've been informed that my build thread is weak. 30+ mods and 2 posts apparently isn't helpful. LOL
Incoming picture and mod description dump t-24 hours. Here's a couple outdated highlights in the meantime
Oof. Not as much as they advertise, but maybe .8-1 mpg. I will say the turbo whistle seems a bit louder post install. Of course it's worth it though for the POTENTIAL gains and definitely the looks ?‍♂️
Latest installs:
- Raptor style fender vents from Ford
- Sound deadening mat and closed foam installed in each door, back cab panel, roof/headliner, as well as under the rear seat. Plenty of tips to share on these.
- Powerbass door and tweeter speakers installed
- Custom upgraded all leather...
Any video or guide you followed to access the headliner/roof? I've got the doors and back wall all done already, but now thinking the roof would be another big value add.
Thanks Rangerous! Appreciate it. i imagine in these new cars the head units push out some pretty good signal especially with the noise filtering. We’ll probably give it a go!
Hey there, love the set up… Thinking I will probably do something similar. I can’t seem to find it anywhere so was hoping you could tell me. When you connected the amp to the factory head unit, were you able to bypass the power to go straight to your amp? Or did you have to basically boost the...
I would sell just the downpipe, but do know that I already have a flex pipe welded to it which you would need anyways, so if you have 2.5” exhaust you would need a reducer. I’d take $350 OBO
