I finally got mine back on Saturday after 2 weeks of dealing with this.
They covered it, but I still don't have final paperwork from the dealership, the advisor was done fighting with everyone and it was just a wait on parts..I suspect it'll cost me my $50 deductible for my ESP. But it's fixed...
That still sounds like hogwash to me. It wasn't even VIN specific, just any vehicle without an engine cover, exhibiting these physical symptoms and code(s). I'm still big on the you should fight them to cover it. Mine was going to be $750 (because the cover is $250 through them vs $175 from...
I'm currently in the tail-end of dealing with the same thing. This *IS* a warranty repair, the TSB even says so, and it's being covered under my ESP, it absolutely should be covered under the factory powertrain warranty...
Just talked to the dealership, they have managed to figure out it is covered under warranty. I should have a $50 deductible, but it sounds like it might be waived? Either way, free or $50 is in line with what I was expecting. They're still waiting on the engine cover showing up which is still...
Reasonably, airflow down in the plug valleys is so low (due to the boots for the coils, and the boot that sits over the valley that is not water or air-tight), and the heat not at a boiling temperature generally due to normal cooling and airflow, that there's nowhere for water to go, not when it...
Basically yes, the cover directs the water away from the plugs. A few posts earlier in this thread (and in others) there's a way to prevent it by using something like a pool noodle that's cut and attached to the cowl above the engine to "seal" it off.
Luckily getting this quote was them trying to get authorization. I don't know why it took days for the tech to get it figured out and for him to say that they wouldn't warranty it and workup this quote. I went and talked to them this afternoon, with the updated TSB (thanks @alcohenusa !), and...
I mean, while, especially with this current debacle - which is apparently ENTIRELY tech caused, saying it's not covered for...reasons? - Ford isn't great at agreeing to things, if the spark plug issue got a TSB, I'd expect that a fuel leak/oil issue would get some kind of bulletin if it was a...
I see what you think you're being clever about there. Where's the TSB about fuel in the oil? Most of the fuel-in-oil stuff is about people not understanding how FI-DI engines work and how the fluids change over time. I'm not at all saying there *isn't* some vehicles with problems (leaky...
No idea, honestly. I know he's a new SA - but he's been miles ahead of any other SA I've dealt with out here still. All this plus $205/hr shop rate for labor at this stealership too.
Yeah, I'm always polite and understanding, and can be very persistent.
Per the Ford rep, it was never even submitted to Ford because the tech told the SA it wasn't covered under warranty. He's going to follow back up and see what's going on. If I have to go drive out there today and have some...
Yeah, I do, and that's my thought. I'm on the phone with Ford now, seeing what happens.
I'm also on the same page, if I knew this was going to be my problem, this would've been fixed a week ago for pennies on the dollar.
Thanks! That's what I thought too, it states this is covered under ESP and I've got my PremiumCare ESP that I bought specifically for stupid stuff like this.
You'd think. The SA is saying Ford isn't covering it. I'm 700 miles past the 5/60k Powertrain warranty and he's saying Ford Protect is saying to pound sand, both regardless of the TSB.
Oil is fine, the fuel in oil stuff in here is basically conspiracy level at this point, I've followed the thread since its inception. I also used to live in SoCal where it never rained, I've only been here a year and was actually under the hood this spring without issues. I'm sure they'll come...
So, it got me finally after 60k, last week I was pulling out of a restaurant and started to feel some hesitation, then a misfire, then the CEL and blinking CEL. Limped home and popped the hood, plug 1 was full of water...
I didn't even pull the others, I knew it was bad enough from this...
I was considering trying to build my own gasket style seal using walk-in cooler gasket, but haven't yet found a way to mount it, but I suspect it would help more, but it wouldn't look all that pretty.
I bought and used this one, and while it helped, it's still far from perfect. If you close the tailgate and look from the bed to the outside, the gaps around the tailgate are *unreasonably* enormous. I mostly gave up on trying to solve for it, especially since I don't live in that territory...
