6 x 12 utility trailer loaded to ~ 3500 lbs. Towed it across the country with a 2021 F150 and about 150 miles with the Ranger. Truck handled it very well and was comparable to the F150 in driving characteristics. Will calculate MPG when I fill up today.
The change in bumper design from 5G to 6G is the biggest backwards styling step IMO. Ironically, because of the bumper, the Raptor looks more like a 5G than a 6G to me...
Somehow, I've never stumbled across this thread before. 2020 XLT 302a FX4 through the years...
2020:
- July (truck had 17 miles on it, after our 12 mile test drive):
- November (first snow):
2021:
- January (~1 foot of new snow, on top of packed, icy base):
- May (doing a bit of...
Just another data point for OP. Have a 2020 Ranger that was purchased new in July 2020. ~32,000 miles and have not had a single problem with it. The only time it's gone back to the dealer was for about 15 minutes because of the rear headrest recall.
There are some complaints with the...
Did the same "dowel mod" as you, before reading that the recall fixed the problem.
Pulled the original headrests out, took it in for the recall, and received proper folding headrests with an OEM button! So now I have 2 spare headrests lol. Build date on mine is 6/2020.
OEM Hankooks get a lot of hate around here. Personally, I've been impressed with them. Decent off road performance, virtually no tire noise, solid tread wear, and don't seem to hurt MPG vs the all seasons. I don't blame you for sticking with them.
Good luck with the wheel! Hope it's just...
As others have mentioned, MPG is extremely variable based on driving style, type of commute, distance driven, elevation change, etc. This is especially true with any turbo engine.
The easiest way to get an idea of what type of mileage you'll see is to compare it to past vehicles. If you meet /...
I mentioned this many pages ago on this thread but I haven't found this specific change explained.
2019-2020 XLT 302a/ Lariats had "8 way power driver & passenger seats" (from 2020 Ranger brochure):
2021+ have "8 way driver & 6 way passenger power seats" (from 2021 Ranger brochure):
Just...
Interesting. Makes sense the design changes are in suspension mounting points and the frame rails will stay the same width - forgot they were switching to outboard shocks!
I have a feeling that, even though the NA frame might be lighter than the global version, it is not the weak point in...
Interesting. So frame specs, etc... should be largely the same as the 5G for the upcoming 6G in North America?
Makes me wonder if the only significant changes in platform for the 2024 model will be slightly widened frame rails / slightly longer wheelbase. Perhaps the frame rail specs will stay...
I wish I knew more about the differences between the F150 / Ranger frame in the rear section. Unfortunately, this chart only references "max side rail section," which is in the center of the truck (under the cab).
One thing to note is that the Ranger has fewer crossmembers than the F150 (6 vs...
The more I compare F150 / Ranger specs, the more I'm convinced the "modifications for the North American market" consisted of using existing F150 parts and making them work for a smaller platform. This is certainly not a bad thing, and makes financial sense as well.
The 5G Ranger comes with 4...
