Those functional vents do look rather nice. As soon as I have access to another pair of the OE vents, I will take them apart and look into building something similar to those. I haven't had a fender repair job on a new Ranger as of yet to source them from.
They are held on by 3 plastic bosses that fit into corresponding holes on the vent. I slipped a thin nylon trim removal tool under the bottom edge and gently pried the badge up so I could see the 3 bosses. I then cut them with an extremely sharp metal chisel type trim removal tool by tapping...

Decided to clean up the fender vents today and finish them in gloss black vinyl to go along with my black and red emblem and trim treatment.
