The solution is to use Google Maps. If you're worried about dead zones, there is a setting to download a region of maps while on wifi (at least on Android, maybe someone can confirm for Apple). No extra fees. Ford can get bent/I'll never pay extra.

Oh of course. Luckily, I generally have pretty good service where I'm at and when I don't I just take my keys anyway. It's when the app has issues on their end randomly that makes it difficult to rely on.
