Is that where they will build the new Carhartt Super Duty truck?Fordās Oakville Assembly Plant used to build the Edge and Nautilus until that work was moved to China. The original plan was to re-tool it to produce āEVs for everyoneā, but we know how that played out. The plan now is to build Super Duty F250, 350, and 450 trucks. That requires an additional re-tooling and to help Ford do that while keeping good paying jobs in this very important plant, the Canadian government has stepped up.
Details are in this Globe and Mail storyā¦.

Itās a massive facility that employs a ton of people. It would be a shame to see it shuttered.

Ever since Carhartt stated making designer clothes and collaborating with high end fashionistas, Iāve lost respect for them⦠When I hear Carhartt now, this is what I think ofI like the idea of that Carhartt Edition trim package. Ford seems to at least have some luck with that kind of branding.
Althiugh, Iām not so sure about the āmanhole coverā inspired wheels. I donāt mind the look of the wheels but I wish they hadnāt mentioned where the design idea came from.
Now, this is all I see isā¦

Follow my link to the other article on the same subject, but updated.I went back and read it but couldnāt find where they mentioned $350 million.
I didn't catch the exchange rate thing at all!Doh! Didnāt realize it was a link.
Yeah, that $464 million Canuckistan Pesos is about $350 million U.S. Greenbacks.
I read somewhere the $$ invested might be as high as $3 billion in the oakville plant, I also recall a brampton ont plant that made jeeps was idle and is slated to build chinese leapmotor EVs as part of the tariff agreement with China. Lots of stuff going on with autos, tariffs and global mfg. But good to hear the plants are providing employment for you poutine eating Canucks. Canada also supplies a good amount of steel to the US - I recall yrs back seeing those integrated steel making mills decorating the skyline in Hamilton, not many integrated mills operate in the US anymore.I went back and read it but couldnāt find where they mentioned $350 million.
