Ford’s Oakville Assembly Plant used to build the Edge and Nautilus until that work was moved to China. The original plan was to re-tool it to produce “EVs for everyone”, but we know how that played out. The plan now is to build Super Duty F250, 350, and 450 trucks. That requires an additional re-tooling and to help Ford do that while keeping good paying jobs in this very important plant, the Canadian government has stepped up.

It’s a massive facility that employs a ton of people. It would be a shame to see it shuttered.

So which is it, $464 million or $350 million?

I like the idea of that Carhartt Edition trim package. Ford seems to at least have some luck with that kind of branding.

Althiugh, I’m not so sure about the “manhole cover” inspired wheels. I don’t mind the look of the wheels but I wish they hadn’t mentioned where the design idea came from.

The current exchange rate is 1 USD = 1.3680 CAD as of May 8, 2026. Now I know why all the outlet malls aren't full of Canadian busses these days. They used to be backed up out on the highways when it was almost 1/1.
I thought Canada was pushing for all electric trucks by 2035 .

Yeah, that $464 million Canuckistan Pesos is about $350 million U.S. Greenbacks.

I went back and read it but couldn’t find where they mentioned $350 million.

I read somewhere the $$ invested might be as high as $3 billion in the oakville plant, I also recall a brampton ont plant that made jeeps was idle and is slated to build chinese leapmotor EVs as part of the tariff agreement with China. Lots of stuff going on with autos, tariffs and global mfg. But good to hear the plants are providing employment for you poutine eating Canucks. Canada also supplies a good amount of steel to the US - I recall yrs back seeing those integrated steel making mills decorating the skyline in Hamilton, not many integrated mills operate in the US anymore.

Keep driving by in your SuperCab and see if you can convince them to make a few trucks that actually look good and have a proper bed length to door handle ratio with 6 and 2 being the sweet spot imo... NO FORD ! Not 6 door handles and a 2 foot bed as I damn well KNOW thats what you guys want and seem to be heading towards at EcoBoost speeds...
