Done by volunteers from the local fire department. Service provided for handicapped & seniors. Just put your name on the list. Like they said they would rather come shovel the snow than to come and pick you up from a heart attack. There are still some kind people in todays evil world.

RE: Biscayne- is it a 6cyl 3spd man or Powerglide, like most of them were or maybe a COPO 409/Muncie? There was a guy in the neighborhood where I grew up that had a '66 Biscayne 2dr post configured like that; dog dish hubcaps, glass packs, grey. That was a trend in the mid-late 60's. special order bone cars with big block engines. Mopar ran away with the concept with the Road Runner
It's a 283 power glide grandma's car. Was bought new by a friend's grandmother in Arizona and the only option is AC. Got it after she passed. I was going to throw a crate ev conversion in it during the pandemic but Chevy never released it so I spent the money elsewhere. Someday it will be a EV if I live long enough and don't sell it first.

Damn you! Now I have to go look for puppy and kitten pics.
Even so the scar will remain, you are just using mental makeup over it.

Wow you guys are really copping it, been watching the reports over here, power out, people dead, and stranded.
And we are too, only on the other side of the coin. 50+ Deg C temperatures listed in some central and southern areas yesterday for Australia day, and 1,000 Victorians evacuated because of bushfires. All in one day. We ended up with 39 Deg yesterday here, that pool and those beers were very good! Looks, like mother nature is out to remind us all who really is boss.

Stay safe please!

Sadly 21 people have died and there's still over 800,000 without power in these sub zero temperatures which won't let up for at least another week. Here's a short 7:00 video recapping the storm and what's coming next. Hint, it doesn't look good for the east coast.

When a geographical area is not prepared for cold weather events it's very difficult to manage. Up here we laugh (figuratively) but this can be a normal winter thing for us. We are prepared just because we live here. Cities, counties and state all have the plow trucks and most folks have their own plows or snow blowers. Prayers for those stranded or in danger.

Growing up and living in New England for 51 years we were always prepared for storms both summer and winter. One thing I learned at an early age was to never (at least try not to) depend on anyone else especially in an emergency. I always did my best to have plenty of supplies like food and fuel, a generator (even if just a small one) to run some lights and some source of back up heat. There's really no excuse up there as most houses had basements and you could always find wood stoves for sale reasonable. I realize things are expensive but you need to start early and accumulate these things over the years. Unfortunately many now are too dependent on others (cough, cough) the government to take care of them.

I realize many of the southern states just don't encounter this type of weather so it's really hard for them to justify having all of this. Those are the ones I feel sorry for and pray they are taken care of quickly. It's terrible to be cold but this weather they're having is beyond just cold it's dangerously cold with all the power out. 🙏
