What kind of nut is supposed to be holding down the engine shroud?

I noticed that the nuts that are theoretically securing my engine shroud are lock-type and are not screwed all the way down. It looks as though the original nuts were removed for some reason and these substituted for some reason before I took delivery of my Ranger.

I'll be having my dealer address this the next time I am in.

Hi John,

Correct nuts, but not tightened down which means some looked under the hood for some reason. Could be the original one was removed from the truck for a non Lariat and this was the Dealer ordered replacement. Someone has been under the hood of your truck before you purchased it for some reason...

Thanks for the confirmation. I suspect my Ranger has a bit of a story to it considering that it had 60 miles on it by the time it got into my hands. I'll go ahead and torque those down myself then.
