I'm only 1/2 way done with the installation of my new Wolfbox G900 Tri-Pro... I reached the limits of my talent so it's time to hand the rest off to my installer. I'm paying him to run the camera wires through the firewall. So far,,, the front cam is awesome. Until I get the rear cam installed it's functioning as a rearview mirror (I shut the screen off while driving). It's a bit of a distraction to see a digital image of the same thing you're seeing out the front window. I will probably be ditching the Wolfbox Rear Cam for the Morimoto 3rd Brake Light with Camera.

I like your plan for the clean setup. I'd like the same, but I just can't bring myself to spend the cash. The combination mirror & 3rd break light camera combo exceeding $400... I just can't do it :(

but I really want a front offroad camera and like the added security features, every other feature is well appreciated gravy.

I'm scrapping the 3rd Brake Light plan... I thought something was fishy about it. All the ads for that product bragged about the lights, but made virtually no mention of the camera. I'd think they would list all the attributes of the camera as a major selling point. That's because,,, it only works on Rangers that have a factory backup camera in that location,,, which mine doesn't. You have to re-use the factory camera and install it in the Morimoto yourself. So,,, Morimoto ($250) + OEM Ford Rear Camera ($695) = $945 BEFORE INSTALLATION... = NO F'ing WAY !!! I'm not cracking $1k for a single camera set-up.

I'll mount the goddam thing under the rear bumper...

No need to get $illy with a Dash Cam instal. I'm sure it'll be fine. And my installer does very clean work. He can hide everything and make it look like it came from the factory that way. That keeps my cost under $400 for the "extended pack" purchased with the huge Black Friday discount - $350. The other stuff i purchased on Amazon totalled out at - $101

I always buy more shit than I need cuz "better to have it and not need it,,, etc..." Now, I need to return a few things. Like the extra License Plate Bracket, the Card Reader, and the Center Console Mount = $67 coming back. Meaning I only spent $34 on extras bringing my total hardware cost to $384
● Wolfbox G900 Tri-Pro Bumper Version Extended Package.
● Wolfbox Anti-Glare Screen Protector.
● Tailgate Masters Hex Mirror Mount Adapter Kit.
● Amazon 90⁰ USB-C Adapters (you could save $9 cuz they aren't really necessary).

🤔 That's interesting, and I'm intrigued. Don't see "Ranger" mentioned on their website though using that part number.

Dam you you're making it more affordable! I cannot be listening to this type of talk this close to the holidays. My kids will not understand the logic here :)

I think I'm going to mount the front cam under the front license plate bracket. I'll be able to aim it straight forward for daily use and angle it down for off-roading.

The only extra you really need to install this unit is the Hex Adapter for $20. So,,, $370 total.

-tell the kids you'll take them off-roading with the "Family" Christmas Present.
😉👍

I know where I live, there's no way an outside camera, mounted on front license bracket is staying clean enough to be visible. Is there something that keeps the lens clean?

They don't have anything Ranger specific yet, but a universal for the wolfbox might be on there.

I plan to make my own when the time comes. 😁
See, now that is cool. Reminds me of some Audi cars that have them for lights, as I'm sure more high end cars have them.
If you can't see through camera when needed, it worthless at that time. I wipe my rear camera every time I walk by it, and it's still only useful during dry road conditions, unless I'm on my dirt road...

Nice. Are you aware of one made for tailgate camera?
They don't have one yet, I contacted them to see if they were gonna make one, they said it was one they wanted to add and asked my location (maybe for possible R&D) and I told them, that was the last I herd from them. Probably because I'm in Tulsa, and they're in I assume Western NY by the area code lol.

Nope. I was really hoping I could find a 5-Pin Rear 2k Cam that would fit the in OEM 3rd Brake Light,,, rather than pay $685 to Ford for a new one. I could deal with the Morimoto light if I could put it all together for less than $300.
