Yes we rarely get earthquakes here, as the oldest, driest, most worn down, and settled continent.
But, we actually had one on Saturday. About 9:40 AM on Saturday morning, I got an earthquake warning on my phone - didn't even know that I had such an app installed, and about 10 seconds later a sound like a jet flew overhead, the house started to shake, windows rattled, garden furniture fell over, and I thought this monitor was going to take a tumble.
We were fairly close to the epicentre, only about 100 or so Kilometers away. Luckily only lasted about 30 seconds and no damage. Our friends up the street lost a couple of glasses which fell off a shelf.

5.6 is a pretty good sized earthquake. Glad you didn't suffer any damage.

I feel ya! In 2011 I was working on the 4th floor of a building in Charlottesville, Va. Suddenly it started shaking like you wouldn't believe. We darted down the stairs and got outside. A 5.8 mag earthquake with an epicenter about 20 miles away struck totally unexpectedly. I will never forget that shaking, rocking sensation. Lots of damage. Our chimney had some some minor damage that had to be fixed for safety reasons.
