Electrical connection protection: Resolved ?

Has anyone come up with a way to protect this connector on the drivers side inside frame rail? Have heard of a couple of owners who have had bad encounters with trail debris messing up the connector. Wanting to be proactive if I can. Crappy picture for reference.

Yeah , I have some ideas with some 4x4 angle either aluminum or steel. Just wanted to see if anyone else has tackled it yet

This truck will never be in that situation for me. When I was a teenager I ripped everything off the underside, then just rerouted it. Not sure if that possible here.

That's a damn big connector!

Best thing you can do is to disconnect the connector, clean the outside and inside with some electrical contact cleaner....let it evaporate, and slather some dielectric grease on the contact pins and snap it back together. The grease will eliminate any chance or corrosion and water intrusion.
Additionally you could get a bicycle tire tube and cut some pieces to wrap the connector using some wire ties to hold the wrap. This will keep the exterior protected. Those connectors are not likely to be handled or disconnected in the future so wrapping them shouldn't pose a problem. If need to access them in future, no problem to remove the wrap.

Thanks but we’re talking large sticks, logs and rocks mashing up in there. Actually breaking the connector. The two instances I know of were large sticks kicked up on trails.

Doesn't the rc skidplate for the transmission happen to cover that area? If you have the money to burn, could be worth looking into.

Ford gets to do that when they decide whether or not to fix the truck.

I think ? that means you should turn your lights on "occasionally"when off roading...as a courtesy to others maybe... ?
