Good luck just ran my ranger 2 weeks ago. It’s hard to launch in 2wd. I would brake boost it to about 1500 and leave on the last yellow. My best run was 14.9 @ 91 mph. But it was 88 degrees out.

looks like it will be over 100 degrees on track day so not expecting any great numbers but still beats working lol
Get a spray bottle with ice water and spray down the intercooler just before you roll up to the tree. Might look a bit silly.. like you are watering the Ranger..... It has been a bit since I went to the track but I do remember guys putting bags of ice down on top of stuff before they got ready to roll up on hot days. Just got a big plastic thing blocking the IC from the top on the stock truck. Then again; see below about getting water all over the track.. heh.

As far as launching; hopefully it is prepped right so that will make things way easier. Id go with sport mode on the trans and give it a try with TC on and off. I weirdly don't hate our TC as far as getting off the line. It is not as aggressive on throttle cut-off compared to other stuff I have driven.

Also, you may want to air the tires down just a touch.. nothing crazy. Especially if they have an air thing at the track or you have your own. Worth trying to see if that helps - or hurts.. I would not go very far off normal on street tires.

And I would NOT do a burnout with the water box on regular tires. You can hold some water in the thread that drops off later. (As much as it might suck; dont run the A/c for the same reason. Dropping water on the track is not cool) Also; that compound wont need a big smokey burnout with it being so freaking warm already. I used to do the little dry hop thing to make sure the tires were clear of crap before lining up when I didn't have a slick under me.

Also - as already stated - go on the last yellow. Don't be the guy with the horrific R/t making excuses. I am very proud of my 0.000 (LED) R/t and very pissed at a -0.001 ... seriously.. Red light on that?!?!

I miss the track; need to bring the LMS Ranger and see what it runs when it's not surface of the sun temps out.

what a freaking mess of a post. I swear I am not drinking. Just distracted.

Slightly offtopic: I bet the 4wd Rangers would make awesome bracket racers. 4hi with an auto; get a decent dial-in and don't suck at the light. Not sure how bad rollout would be with a truck and a lot of drivetrain to get spinning with a turbo doing some work..

My last bracket race was against an old-school lightning; the boxy body type - not the supercharged one. I only beat him because he deep-staged for some reason and went negative on r/t. The split across the line was still 0.0?? and I got the goofy trophy thing they were handing out. That thing was running a super steady E/T all night. I was lucky I stayed that close as I wasn't as consistent.

I think we need the Ranger Racing guru to chime in.

Paging @Doc
Hell, as above !
great in instructions from wych…..
I will add one thing where I race.
you have to go through the water box and there’s no way around it .
so once you roll through, hold the brake, spin the tires untill you visibly see smoke.
25 lb air, sport mode.
(hopefully you have a tune)

I'd love to see that time but doubt it would do it with the temps outside. When it gets cooler and I throw better street tires under it; im gonna give it a shot.

I know this thing feels faster than either my old 3.8 Genesis Coupe or turbo Cobalt SS and they each ran low 14s with good weather before mods; 14.1 - best time stock. Each was faster after mods but still, it's a truck that only has a drop in AEM and a bit of a tweak on the ecm/tcm. Comparing their ability to turn or stop.... ehhhh..... Ranger go quick for what it is and what I paid for it ?!?!? :D (including mods)

Was next to a pretty loud Lightning at a red light at lunch today. 4 lane state route and would have liked to give him a run but it was raining like a monsoon.
