IIRC Carvana wants to take your vehicle and send you a check later.

they pay on the spot. coworker sold them his 8 YO cherokee when the oil pan rusted through. he was skeptical but check on the spot and green menace was flat bedded away about an hour later while he laughed all the way to the bank. That is the final reason I needed to never buy a used car ever again unless it's for a project

Maybe it was a smaller amount and that's why they paid him on pick up or they could've changed their policy? I do remember Vroom saying it was to new and to reach back out to them later in the year which sounded strange to me. The only 2 companies that were interested were Driveway and Carvana and I'm positive Carvana said they'd send the positive equity check after everything went through. I remember thinking that was strange and no way was I letting my vehicle go and not getting paid on the spot for it.

With Driveway they paid me the day they picked up my Jeep. They had already talked with the bank and had a positive equity check for me when they arrived on Saturday. By Tuesday the check had cleared and by Thursday the loan was paid off, everything went super smooth.

Carvana paid me on the spot for my Lexus back in 2021. That is still their policy.

maybe you owed too much on the loan for them to feel comfortable plus it was too new and to me that would be a red flag

When my sister finished college and moved back home, I managed to off-load my sister's old Ford Aspire to a used-car dealership even though it had a crack in the radiator the size of the San Andreas Fault. I knew that they were going to smell the radiator fluid as soon as they opened the hood, so I "topped it off" and managed to be clumsy about it, so that they saw the fluid all around the cap. The scary part is that a few months later we were back in her college town, and there was "Pinky" on the street; I seriously doubt that that crack was ever repaired.

I guess I didn't remember correctly. lol But I do know one of them (I contacted several) wanted to take it and send you a check after. I just remember thinking that was crazy when they said that crossed them off the list.

Carvana showed up with a check for my wife's car and only took 10 minutes. I cashed it the next day but the bank did put a 2 day hold on some of my savings for it to clear. Don't deposit over $600 or the government is going to try and tax it. But that was a year ago. I think spring is the best time to get the highest value.

I keep getting letters from the dealer I bought my Ranger from wanting me to trade mine in. I received another Saturday for only $26,600 so out of curiosity I got a few others online.

I received a quote from Carvana & Driveway over the weekend. Last year Carvana was way lower than Driveway when I sold my Jeep. Now Carvana's quote was #33,560 and Driveway was $30,249. With all the trouble Carvana is in I was surprised to see their quote this much higher.

?‍ I guess they could ask to inspect it and then come back with a lowball offer. Dennis @Dr. Zaius got approximately the same quote so maybe they're looking for mid size trucks right now?

With ours they just handed us the agred upon check after taking a picture of the vin number and having us sign over the title. After that the guy took pictures before loading on the carrier. I think that was to verify if he damaged it in transit.
