Update the SYNC map couple weeks ago, and it would not stay on highways even though avoid highways was off. All of a sudden after entering destination, these choices popped up, and it properly routes me on the highways and not country roads!

Nice!

I had a loaner Explorer with Ford's nav on it. I think I like my XLT using my phone/Google maps more. Maybe I'm just more familiar with it and that created a bias.

That said; it's neat they added that to the Ford stuff. Google can be a bit weird with what it thinks you should do to save gas sometimes. Maybe it assumes you didn't disable ASS. My ASS was on for a bit... Maybe/seemed to help, but the tune killed it off and I'm getting better mpg for sure now. Ok ok enough ASS rambling... Back on topic.

No option for the scenic route?
Throw all navigation out the window for the scenic route. Nothing better than a cruise on the backroads just lookin for a new way to get lost.

I think Google maps use current and historic traffic conditions and road construction when planning route options. SYNC probably doesn't to this, unless the navi has real-time access to maps, other than stored maps and quarterly or semi-annual map updates.
