you reference your friend but I've put 200k miles on MY tesla's and only service was replacing upper control arms.

total charging cost install - $15.00 upgrading a 50amp outlet to 60amp
Installed solar and powerwalls. haven't had an electric bill since 2020
how did you get the solar panels and power walls for free?

good story. my tesla told me via app notification to my cell phone that the 12v battery was low and needed replaced. submitted service request via mobile app in less than 5 minutes. picked up battery the next day. took 15 minutes to replace.
What is this 12v battery?

There are stories all over these forums about Ranger getting gasoline in the oil, rear ends going out, water leaks, and numeruos other issues, but everyone just says that is normal. A Tesla has a problem and the naysayers act like every Tesla has problems.

I don't think that anyone is saying that those are normal, excepting maybe the dealers ?.

Anything mass produced is going to have issues in the run. Some will get good ones, some will get bad ones.

Rangers aren't perfect and neither are Teslas.

It's just that everyone focuses on the problems as those get the most "traction" in the minds of people.

Only you stated as much. Your credibility is cratering for sure…?
My credibility in life is NOT dependent on your opinion. To be honest, I couldn't care less what you "think" my credibility is...

Good grief, are you trolling with this post?! Below 14MPG! Do you wear concrete shoes? Even in bumper to bumper city traffic, I still average 18MPG, with conservative daily driving at 22-24MPG and I've gotten up to 28MPG at highway only.

One of the biggest reasons for my Ranger purchase was the gas mileage for a mid-size truck. Having a hard time believing your sub-14MPG claim.
10-4. Might be driving style. If so, He'll probably be down around 100mi range in the Tesla.

gotta look at the bright side of those stops to recharge the Lightning, they have that nice private airstream to have some fun in, just look at happy look on her face, if this does the trick with my wife I think I'm a buyer for a rig like that. I can just hear my wife saying "what we are stopping again" :)

We're in the twilight of the ICE age, I think. One of the clouds on the horizon though, is how we will go about recycling or reclaiming the expired batteries? Conventional lead acid batteries can be 100% recycled, including the case; the lead plates collected and cast into Yeti cooler-size hunks, or "sows," and melted down again to form new plates to be put into cases made from polymer pellets made from the ground up old cases. I may not understand this correctly, but I think some BEV power packs can be reconditioned by replacing only the defunct modules in the pack, not the whole assembly. I wonder if it is as extensive an operation as rebuilding an ICE?
I'm keeping a casual eye on BEV developments, as for us, one would be a viable replacement for our 2009 Mariner, If we still want two vehicles. The Merc is the grocery getter vehicle, rarely ever driven more than 60 miles in a week anymore.

Wellll... at a 100 mile range, you both might be exhausted on a coast-to-coast trip "recharging!" 4-5 times a day!

a number of companies involved in solid state batteries which have advantages over lith-ion , but lots of hurdles to getting them produced. But big $$$ are being invested, both private and publicly traded firms, a bit too speculative for me to go there.

I think an interim tech like hydrogen will take place before major electrification. I'm surprised LNG hasn't taken off.

Hydrogen powered Toyota Mirai sold in California.

I'm taking a big risk here posting a link from an insider EV site, but with Damper Dave on a possible self imposed hiatus I feel my risk of a Ranger Pride event is minor.

LNG has not taken off because the people pushing green energy do not consider natural gas as green. Yes, you and I know it is much cleaner than gasoline or diesel fuel, but "they" consider LNG as petroleum and as such "it is bad"
