I think you might be mistaken about the meaning of a "platform." All it means is that they share some core components and design features. Very different vehicles (even vehicles with very different dimensions!) can be built on the same platform. If I recall correctly, the CRV is built on the Civic platform, and I really don't think anybody would consider a CRV to be a re-badge of a Civic (except maybe people who consider the Ranger 2.3 to be "wimpy").
True, but using the same platform means very restricted, like as was mentioned, the T6 does not accept the 2.7 eb for [add the reasons here].

But then confusion, because Bronco will be a T6 yet it can fit the 2.7eb engine, so why can't the ranger fit the 2.7eb? The v6 is tiny at just 2.7L.

Personally I could not careless! if this engine was offered . . . it is not.... If only it had ...... it does not.... I bought my Ranger because it is what I wanted .. . If I want for the perfect Truck , I will be dead when that happens,, who care what could have been... if you do not like it do not buy it... or buy one and put your own engine in it.... again personally I just think you like to hear yourself talk - @ Chuck
Yeah, but if the Ranger had a 2.7eb option you would have probably bought that and then claim it's better than their 4eb. Or, those who would have opted for the v6 would be telling all you 4eb's your truck is slow and under powered, just as v6 Tacoma owners tell the Tacoma folks who have the 2.7L 4.

I also had a Corolla XRS, because it was the only model with bigger/better 4banger engine, and it beat the S models easily, XRS was way more fun to drive too. The better motor was an option, so I bought that.

Re-read the comment that you quoted and said was true.

He will never buy a Ranger and is just trolling this place.
Got to be.
The guy comes on the forum ranting about the Ranger's wimpy 4 cyl and how the Tacoma has a more powerful V6 which is BS.
No doubt he hasn't driven a Ranger and comes here ranting about the 270 HP 310 lbs of torque non wimpy 4 Cyl which blows away the Tacoma's V6 in acceleration and tow capacity.
I'm no Ranger fanboi but the Ranger blows away the Tacoma in many categories.

Please keep this thread on topic, this is not a Tacoma vs Ranger thread.

Did I say Tacoma v6 was more powerful or better? Care to go find that and quote it?

I have a 4banger ~265hp ~273tq, can beat a Ranger any day of the week because it's about 325lbs lighter and the auto trans is better.
But like I said before, I not so impressed with 275hp/300tq in a ~4000lb vehicle.

So, when will Ranger get a motor with more hp and tq ??

I do drive "that", I am buying yet another vehicle to have one more. I have a MB and Lexus, now I need a small truck again.
What?
No Ferrari?
