New in SoCal (but not for much longer)

Northern NV, preferably the Carson City/Carson Valley area but I'm having a hard time finding a decent rental there - my trip a few days ago was to go look at some properties and it was basically a bust. I've been trying to get out of CA for years myself, most of my friends bailed on this disaster ages ago but my career got me stuck and I'm only finally getting out because I decided to walk away from it and go become a commercial pilot instead, and Carson City has an amazing flight training setup with some specialized stuff you can't find many other places so I'm going there for a couple of years to train and build hours. Longer term I'm hoping to head even further east, though, hopefully somewhere like Wyoming, Montana, etc.

Congratulations on a nice looking truck. It sounds like you are headed in the right direction for mods. Good luck with your pilot plans. My buddy retired from American airlines a couple years ago. He flew LAX to Hong Kong, and that was all, for years until he retired.

Thanks. Pretty good route your friend had, personally I'm probably not going to the airlines though, much more interested in backcountry flying and hopefully gonna do search and rescue, government work (Forest Service or similar), or something like that, maybe even try to fly ski planes down in Antarctica for a season or two or something. One of the big reasons I'm going to Carson is that there's a backcountry training program there, something that's really hard to find outside of maybe Alaska.
