writing down passwords is only good if you remember where the paper is with them on it.
I email each password and info to myself then store them in a password protected folder. Now I only need to remember one password for the hundreds I have stored. I'm screwed if I ever forget the main one. ?

Turns out that email is not secure either.

Duh.. Under the keyboard you silly.
I've seen them written on a post-it note that's stuck to the monitor, usually in schools.

I had to go do some IT at a middle school in Atlanta once.

Upon entering the main entry, there was a big whiteboard with very artistic writing on it welcoming the new students.

It said" Don't aim for Competence but strive for Excellence"

Competence and Excellence were both misspelled ?

Edit: One more school story, this one more due to my own naivete'.

Middle school in Los Angeles where I'm doing some IT.

My first clue that I wasn't in Kansas anymore should've been the barbed wire fences surrounding the school like a prison.

Principal was showing me around and we passed a nursery full of babies.

I'm like "That is great that you have a nursery for your teachers"

Principal looks at me incredulously and says "The nursery is for the students..."

Middle school students, ie, 11-14 year old kids had a quite full nursery for their kids. :crying:

Edit 2: Another California school story.

Another middle school.

Went in to the classroom where students were taught how to use Macs.

I'm trying to use the instructors iMac and it's VERY laggy.

I check the hardware specs and it's a decently robust machine. Open up Activity Monitor and see maxed memory pressure and that her browser is gobbling up all the RAM. I kill the process and now the machine is snappy as it should be.

The teacher is evidently surprised and says "How did you do that?"

Let me rephrase that, the Mac Computer teacher is surprised that I opened Activity Monitor and found what was causing her computer to be slow.

She didn't realize that clicking the X didn't close the program in Mac OS, it just closed the window.

The Doctor asks "What's the problem?"

The man says "I don't know what to do. Every day my wife seems to loose her temper for no reason! It scares me!"

The doc says " I have a cure for that. When it seems that your wife is getting angry, just take a glass of water and start swishing it in your mouth. Just swish and swish but don't swallow it until she leaves the room or calms down.

Two weeks later, the man returns to the doctor looking fresh and reborn.

The man says "Doctor, that was a brilliant idea! Every time time my wife started loosing it, I swished with water. I swished and swished and she calmed right down! How does a glass of water do that?"

The Doctor says "The water itself does nothing. It's keeping your mouth shut that does the trick!"

Best,
Phil
