New owner, first post. Truck delivered 8/16. I've been in a loaner for six days now. The evening I brought it home the SiriusXM stopped working at all. Touchscreen wouldn't allow selection of SiriusXM as source. Called SiriusXM and refresh had no effect. Next morning the radio worked. Didn't drive it rest of the day. Next morning, 8/18, drove 20 miles to Gloucester harbor to look at a trawler, and parked.

30 minutes later got back in the truck. Truck won't start. SiriusXM not working again. Dash was live, accessory power available but pushing start button had zero effect and the brake pedal went all the way to the stop. I've never had any vehicle or motorcycle do that and don't know how it could occur. There should always be some resistance? About 10 minutes and 100's of button pushes later, the truck starts.

Drove to dealer, Kelly Ford in Beverly MA. They reflashed the radio with FoMoCo software "update". Radio works but the "couldn't reproduce" the non-start issue. Drove to coffee shop 10 minutes away. Get back in truck. Radio dead again and truck won't start. Back to dealer. I'm still in the loaner. No word from the dealer.

I traded a 2010 VW Tiguan Wolfsburg, built in Germany, for this POS. Not a single thing ever went wrong with the VW. The dealer already sold it. Lol. I've started a consumer complaint case with FoMoCo. I don't want this truck.

Seems too obvious but has the battery connection been checked? Ironically I'm also going from VW to Ranger but for the opposite reason - I've never had a vehicle with as many gremlins as the VW.

Heard of this. A ground wire somewhere or a connector not completely connected

Yet you waste more of your time replying. Brilliant.

The non-start problem occurs while the dash is lit. Pushing the putton elicits zero response at all. Nothing. But the dash stays lit.

Dash and accessories can still get power at times when there is a loose connection at battery or as also mentioned, loose ground. Like I said, seems obvious that dealer would have checked it while they had it but sometimes simple solutions are overlooked.

They've had it for four work days now. I'm driving a loaner. I actually like the truck. I'll just never trust this one. Told FoMoCo and the dealer I would be happy to accept an identical Ranger that works. I think modern vehicles have become so complex that techs don't have the necessary diagnostic tools to diagnose problems.

I know it sounds silly, but are you pressing the brake pedal when trying to start the truck? If so are the brake lights coming on when you do so? If not then it's possible that the brake light switch is faulty and not registering the pedal actuation to allow the truck to start.

During the non-start events, the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor hard stop. That should not happen, either. The truck has been back at the dealer for 6 of the 8 days I've owned it.

It's obvious people skills aren't your strong point.

But saying stupid shit like this isn't going to get your truck looked at any faster. In fact it'll probably make it sit at the back of the lot as long as it can.

In no state in the union have you even approached lemon law status. Empty threats like this will get you nothing from your dealership but a .

You've got a free rental, drive the piss out of it and enjoy. When you get your truck back it'll most likely be fine. If not, you'll deal with it then.

Dear d fresh,
You don't know me nor do you have any idea what my "people skills" are. In fact the dealer gm and I have a very good relationship. The service manager has been as helpful as possible. The gm is coaching me on steps for lemon law in MA. I have indeed approached the threshold. I have made no threats. FoMoCo delivered a defective vehicle. This is is in no way the fault of the dealership. And I'm reasonably certain that most people in this country would expect a $40,000 machine to perform correctly when delivered. Perhaps you're in Russia and love Lada's. I expected to encounter some fanbois in this forum. But my offer stands. I'm happy to sell you this truck at exactly what I paid for it. Good day to you.

Is the OP familiar with the cup holder emergency key start? Has it been tried?
My guess in this case is there's a connection some place that wasn't secured in the factory.
However, the technician has to find it and that can be like chasing a ghost and time consuming.
Be patent, it's complex, enjoy the rental. I remember when those were non existent.
