Are polished aluminum wheels hard to keep clean. Some say it's quite and effort, that why I'm thinking chrome...if I can find the right damn offset.

Some are clear coated but used to develop what they called worm, which looked like an earth worm dirt trail under the clear coat over time. If they're just exposed, then they will need routine maintenance like everything else.

I was paying attention to ones that said they were clear coated.? Somebody piped in and said it was a nightmare to keep them up to snuff, figured I'd ask.

There is a finish called hard coat clear anodized. Thick and very tough. So get them bare metal and polished up, send them off to be done and have some pretty nice wheels

I had polished aluminum wheels on my F350 and after each winter they would look terrible, so I'd take off my wheels and polish the heck out of them to get the shine back. It was a lot of work, but I did it every year. Mine didn't have the clear coat, and clear coat might help prevent some of the problems I experienced, but I also think that the clear coat would make it so you couldn't use Mother's aluminum polish or the equivalent to get your wheels shinny again if the surface started to worm or get dull. Like you, I wish someone made a nice chrome wheel with a 30 to 40 mm offset!

Exactly! What a pain it is. I'm wondering if the chrome accents I do have will clash with the aluminum? I need to go get a hands on look at them.
