I have one. And the pivot brackets are metal. No way it’s gonna break. It's plastic. They may just be stiffeners so the box can take some hits without breaking as easily.

But the plastic might otherwise...I have one. And the pivot brackets are metal. No way it’s gonna break.
I installed only a right side box on my 2020 S/Cab made by Undercover (who probably makes it for Ford) and had to elongate the pivot bracket top and lower mounting holes so that I could level the box in the bed in it's stowed position.I have one. True, in time anything plastic and exposed to the elements will fail, but the design of the product is robust enough where I am considering a left box as well as the right side I already have. But the plastic might otherwise...
What did you pay for your box and where did you get it from. I can only find it for $199 and I thought the OEM version was $249.True, in time anything plastic and exposed to the elements will fail, but the design of the product is robust enough where I am considering a left box as well as the right side I already have.
I got mine from Undercover.com, I can live without the "Ford" logo on the box and for spending $100 less.
I have two swing cases and the way it latches, I highly doubt it would unlatch due to rough terrain. I beat mine up pretty good off road and have never had them unlatch. In fact, I had the same concerns when I got them. They are both loaded pretty heavily and are still very solid.Rough terrain may jar it loose from it's locked position ?
My bad Mark, yes the Ford "licensed" box is $50 more, not $100 like I said. What did you pay for your box and where did you get it from. I can only find it for $199 and I thought the OEM version was $249.
Thanks - Mark
You got a gr8 deal bud, I just bought the right side box for now to house road emergency equipment. Funny how undercover.com refers to the boxes as driver and passenger, as a mechanic references are always made from being seated in the vehicle, looking forward, hence left and right. What would happen if the truck was right hand drive?I paid $374 for both driver and passenger side. Free shipping.
They only discounted because I bought 2.
Realtruck.com.

Am considering a left side box now for car care crap an all...
Indeed, the unit's construction is robust and it is easily removable.I love these things. They are strong and super easy to put in.
You will have to abandon the hooks near the tailgate.

bottom line: These boxes are great! But the plastic might otherwise...[/QUOTE
You don’t have to lose any tie downsIndeed, the unit's construction is robust and it is easily removable.
I'll be able to use the rearmost tie-down hook then, but I know you already knew this...![]()
