This was my post. I got an email notification that the post was linked lol. At the time my wife and I felt the same way - new truck and problem right away after several Fords with really no problems. Did we make a huge mistake buying the Ranger we asked ourselves. But since the fix we've had zero issues with the truck other than the SiriusXM lockup a few times but I did the "soft reset" on the dash buttons to "fix" it and it hasn't locked up in a while now. Only complaint I have is the dampers. This thing sways and rolls like my 78' LTD 4dr. did I swear. I'll put in better shocks/struts at some point but it's been a great reliable truck. Not a fanboy just an old guy that buys fords because that's what I know and like

I had a 1999 mustang that I told Ford needed an idle air control valve. The dealership refused to do that because there wasn’t a code telling them so. I filed a lemon law claim and won it and Ford had to buy back my vehicle including all of the interest taxes etc. Research your states lemon law and keep good records if they don’t fix it. FYI they probably have 30 days and or three attempts to fix your issue within a year.

In MA they have 3 attempts or 15 days, whichever comes first, then one final 7 day attempt.

Just replacing the rear shocks for a set of Bilstein's makes a world of difference in the ride quality of the truck. Takes about 10 min per side and only need a single wrench. Bilstein also has two variants of shocks for the ranger, but the internals are identical. The yellow ones are for stock ride height and are a little cheaper, and the silver ones if you plan on lifting the truck. So you can start with the rears and then replace the front later on when you are ready to have an alignment done since you have to pull the strut assemblies out to change them.

Thanks for the heads-up! I've been looking for Bilstein rears for a while now - all backordered. So even if I leave the stock ride height in front and just replace the struts, an alignment is necessary eh? If so I might level it too.

Just replacing the front struts but not installing a leveling kit will throw the the caster/camber off a little bit when everything is bolted back up. If you add a leveling kit on the front it will throw the toe angle off as well. As for the rears, Summit Racing has the yellow/blue ones in stock for $76 per. I ordered mine from them and they only took a couple days to get them. If you don't want the yellows 4 Wheel Parts has the silver variant in stock as well, but some people have posted issues with long delivery times from them.

I should update this. Took my truck back last Wednesday. Since the dealer was unable to reproduce the non-start issue they did not do anything other than upload the computer history to Ford Engineering. Engineering is supposed to get back to the dealer with recommendations after they search their archives. No time estimate is available. Meantime, my conversations with the really nice Ford Customer Advocate resulted in Ford's adding another year to my bumper-to-bumper. And the dealer gave me my hood bug deflector, which I had ordered, for no charge. The truck has been perfect since I got it back. I'm thinking Bilsteins next...
