Has anyone put 285/70/17 on there trucks and did it hurt the performance , shifting , and gas mileage? I doubt want to dog the engine down.

Will not fit without crash bar mods, spacers, and/or lift. You will definitely lose acceleration and braking performance. Shifting will not be an issue. Fuel economy will hurt.

I have 3” spacers from ford ranger lifts on mine. I put on nitro 285/70R17s on it. I only had mine for 800 miles before I changed it. I was getting 22-23 and now I get 20-21 mpg. One thing I learned was not to get an LT tire. They are made heavier to tow more. I sold my diesel and got this ranger since I am no longer towing and the lighter tire barely affected the fuel economy so I am very happy!

That extra weight really added up! I can’t believe it went down to 13!

Ive researched lifting my unit and backed away from the 3" bc I was told you need a diff drop at that point. Along with stress on stock parts and resisted articulation.

Is that the same if you get 3" with the combination of a 2" lift and spacer? Im learning :inspect:

My 3 inch is just a spacer
No extra wear according to Ford ranger lifts website

I am running 285/65/18's...on AR Mainline wheels and the weight difference from stock is only 20lbs for each wheel-80lbs difference total.
I only lost about 1/2 mpg and that depends on how heavy my foot is. My performance really did not change as I am not streetlight to streetlight racing.
if you have a 2.5" lift they fit with no crash bar mods...depending on your offset. Some run 1/4” spacers and stock wheels with no issue. I have the RangerLifts.com 3" level and +30 wheels and have zero rubbing a full lock forward and reverse.
