Hi all, I love to use Apple CarPlay for navigation but I don't want it to take over audio! Whenever something with audio pops up while using my phone and it's connected to carplay the audio switchs from SirusXM to the phone. Is there a way to stop this from happening??

Are you running the latest iOS? I think they addressed that issue.

Yes i've put my phone on vibrate and I am on the latest iOS. It seems to be certain apps that do it. Like Twitter is a good example.

It does not seem to be taking over mine. The menu gets taken over initially but I just press the home button and it brings up the normal menu. One thing I notice is the Maps get tied to CarPlay once connected.

Here's my sequence of events:
  • Plug in phone
  • Setup maps to go to destination
  • Have the screen on the maps/guidance
  • Listening to SiriusXM
  • Phone on vibrate
  • Passenger will be scrolling through twitter (app) or instagram (app)
  • Audio will auto switch from Sat radio to the phone
It happens, a lot for me. I just did a 1,700 mile road trip from CA to IA and it happened so much that I ended up screaming at my passenger cause it pissed me off. LOL

Do you have only one USB plug up front? Or just using the one phone connected? I know only one of my USB outlets up front can control CarPlay

We had two phones plugged into the USB upfront. AFAIK both USBs up front control carplay.

ok I know if the passenger allows their phone to control it then that is the problem. They might be able to disable Carplay control on their phone.
