Yes I think you're right, mustn't steal sales from the F150, that problem doesn't exist here because Ford stopped local assembly of the RHD F150 and F250 years ago. You can still buy them now but only through a convoluted process whereby Ford imports new F150's from the US and then hands them over to local 2nd tier manufacturers who convert them to RHD and then send them back to Ford to be distributed through the normal channels. The conversion is apparently very high quality equal or better than OEM but as you can imagine adds a lot to the price. The same contractors also build RHD Rams, Silverados, and Tundras.
So much easier to do it to the Ranger which is already built in RHD form for the UK, Asian, Oceania, and African markets.
