I have a 2019 ford ranger So I got a check engine light p044c code. I recently change the egr sensor but I only but the sensor from Amazon. But now I’m thing it was faulty sensor. I might just go buy the oem sensor. Has anyone had this code? Did you fix it?

Was it coding the same before replacement? or was this a symptom (Bucking/Surging) replacement with no codes?

That code references a (Circuit Voltage) issue on the VREF circuit, so either bad sensor or wiring, so in short the PCM is not seeing a voltage signal at the sensor.

You will need a scan tool to view the DPFE sensor PID data, Forscan will not display that PID in Live Data.

Come to think of it, I never had a code thrown when mine started to fail. It just bucked under slight load.

I only found two VP41 available on Amazon, and both were Chinese knockoffs. I'd be suspect of them.

sounds like a bad dpfe sensor but check the pins and make sure they are not bent/damage
